Hiya, so my problem is that i have no sound, haven't had for a while now.
When i hover over the speaker icon it says "no audio output device installed".
I've tried going to device manager and beside where it says "Realtek AC'97 Audio" is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside. I have tried clicking update driver software and scan for hardware changes.
I have been googling this problem for ages to try and find a solution but anything i can find doesn't work. If anybody could give me any suggestions on what might be wrong and how to fix it i'd really appreciate it.

I don't know much about the computer, it was given to me and i'm not much of a computer wiz. But if you need to know anything i will try to answer.

Thanks.

Hi Jodie :)

Are you running Vista or Win7? What version?

In the 'start search' box type dxdiag. When the icon shows up at the top of the list, click on it to open it. Next let it download a .txt file
Click the "Save all information" button. A little icon that looks like a notebook page will be put on your desktop. Copy and paste the information from that log and post it in this topic.

new upgrades to come
i had that problem when windows 7 was in its earliest beta stages.
eventually around build 7100 realtek put out an update (through MS update) and it 100% fixed the problem. and ever since that i kept upgrading the builds to now where i have 7201
I did notice, however, that when i did a clean install of 7201, 7264 and probably everything in between, that I couldn't get the driver anywhere and gave up after pretty much months from searching early on

check this out if i better explained it, or if anyone has any solution to it:

if your specs are correct tho, you're using build 7100, and like i said in the message i made like a month ago, it stopped being in windows update sometime.
unforunately i just realized i've got conexant hd audio.

my xp driver is the same, so the big question is, can someone running an older build w/ the same audio card send you that driver???
or in my case can i save this version that is working on older builds and use it on newer ones?
