Hi all,

I re-installed Windows 7 on my Toshiba laptop according to Option 1 of the following link:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/2432-usb-windows-7-installation-key-drive-create.html

Now my computer shows no programs installed:

Device Manager shows that I am missing key drivers:

I currently cannot connect to the Internet through my laptop, but I've been trying to use a friend's computer and my USB thumb-drive to download and install the correct drivers. However, I haven't been successful.

I tried going to the Toshiba driver download website (Drivers & Software Support | Toshiba) for my laptop (Satellite A665-S6070) and tried to install Intel PROSet/Wireless WiMAX Software and Intel Wireless LAN Driver, but was not successful. Nothing happened during the install or an error was returned.

The I went to the Intel website (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/detail_desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=18713) to try and install a Network Adapter Driver. I get the following error message:

Any help on what is going on? Thanks!!

Hi maxie,

I followed the instructions you posted and performed a clean install again. I was unable to follow Step 5 ("Manage installed programs"), especially the suggestion that I "save in advance your Wireless or Ethernet LAN (wired) driver in your backup", as I had already attempted to perform one clean install before and thus didn't have those drivers installed.

For Step 6, "Install the Windows .iso", the Windows Download USB/DVD tool gave me errors relating to bootsec.exe, so I instead used Rufus without problems.

My computer, as before, still shows no programs installed (even through I can load up simple programs like Windows Media Player with no problems) and the same set of drivers as before are unavailable.

AJR147, I'm going to try downloading 3DP Chip, putting it onto the computer with the clean install, and give it a go. Will report back. Thanks!

Forget 3rd party installers...you are better off, and safer, getting the drivers directly from the manufacturer.

Well, I can vouch for AJR147's proposed solution of downloading 3DP Chip. That program identified and installed the drivers for the Network Controller and the Ethernet Controller, and now managed to successfully connect to my Wi-Fi.

My Device Manager now shows missing drivers for 3 "Base System Device", the "PCI Simple Communications Controller", and some "Unknown device".

Final update: Windows was able to find, download and install the remaining drivers by simply searching online after right-clicking the missing driver on Device Manager and then just clicking "Update Device software".

Thank you all for your help!
