So i have 3 external drives and none of them are showing up in explorer. They are working fine on laptop and friends desktop but when i plug into my computer there is just a green bar indicating that windows is trying to read the drive. There is not problem with the drives as i have checked on other computers. When i plug in mobile through usb port it is working so the port is fine

Do they show up in Disk Management (diskmgmt.msc) and Device Manager (devmgmt.msc)? Or right click computer and Manage (both are there).

If they are in Disk Management, do they have a drive letter assigned?
If they show in Device Manager, any warnings/errors (yellow exclamation or similar)?

Also:
- Check if they are working in Safe Mode.
- Try another user account - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/181024-user-account-create.html

Disk management becomes not responding. But it does appear in device manager. Will try both safe mode and user account

Try uninstalling the externals in Device Manager, it would re-install automatically.

Then if that doesn't work:
- Create a manual System Restore point - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html
- Remove all external drives
- Run as admin - Drive Tools for Windows
- Restart
- Run CCleaner - scan for both files and registry
- Restart and try again

** Drive Cleanup will delete all drivers for unplugged devices, so you will see them re-install once you plug them in as if it was the first time.

Note: Did you try other ports? For example a back USB port if front doesn't work. Also try USB 2 if USB 3 doesn't work.

When did this problem start? You can try a System Restore to a date before the issue started if you are aware of this - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html (same tutorial as above)

Also maybe you can check them out from a Linux OS. Download and make a bootable DVD/USB for Linux Mint MATE. Boot with it (no installation needed) and see if externals are seen.

You can also try to load defaults in BIOS. How to Clear Your Computer?s CMOS to Reset BIOS Settings

This method is intrusive, make sure you have created a manual System Restore point (you must have already in the previous post)
- Delete Upper and lower filters for USB How to Delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters Registry Values
- GUID is
36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000USB host controllers and hubs
If you see any problems after deleting the filters, please restore the system back to the point you created.
