all you had to do was a system restore to the previous day. your ethernet is still good. amytime a rj45 gets yanked or power goes out it will lose all settings. thus showing the red x. just do a system restore and you ll be back up in no time. if you have internet but cant logon to programs through the network this fix is for you. no other fix other than a system restore will work just an fyi. unless you replace then entire mobo but thats not necessary.
