Solved No Network Availability for Wired Connection

Hey all,

So my desktop refuses to connect to the Internet. My LAN is showing up in Network Connections, knows when the cable is unplugged, but I don't have the option to connect to it in drop down menus or anything.

I've checked all the cables against my other machines and they work (and connect) and all wireless connections work as normal. All the ports on the router work as well. I've run troubleshooting and the most it can tell me is that it detects problems.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers, downloading with my other comps and switching over.

Safe Mode with Networking doesn't work either. I've tried all the DNS flushing and ipconfig /reset and all that and I'm not getting anywhere. I'll be happy to try again and paste results though, if anyone has any ideas.

Please do the following:

To collect IP configuration information easily, do the following:

Open a Elevated Command Prompt:

XP, Vista or Windows 7:

Click on the Start button and type cmd.
DO NOT press Enter or click Go.
Look at the upper part of the window and you will see cmd.exe.
Right click on it and select Run as Administrator.

Windows 8 or 8.1:

Press WIN + X to open Start context menu.
Select Command Prompt (Admin)​.

Paste the following into the Command Prompt window, exactly as shown, including double quotes:

cmd /c "ipconfig /all > postme.txt & ping yahoo.com >> postme.txt & reg query "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings" | find /i "proxy" >> postme.txt & notepad postme.txt & del postme.txt"

and press ENTER.

A file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents here. Close the Notepad window and the file will be deleted and the Command Prompt window will also close. Post results in a reply here.

Try loading defaults in BIOS (either first screen or exit menu).

Try these commands in elevated cmd (run as admin):
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset

Open Network and Sharing Center - click on Local Area Connection - Properties:

I reset BIOS defaults, no change.
Ran those commands, no change, though both seemed to be successful.

Alright, try a CMOS reset (sometimes helps when BIOS reset doesn't work). Check our motherboard manual how to perform one. It will involve removing the CMOS battery and setting a jumper etc.

Also try disabling AV/Firewall.

Please download and make bootable DVD/USB for Linux Mint MATE (or any other live Linux distro) and boot with it, no need to install. See if you can connect with it.

Do you have a Router? (I assume so since you said you have a LAN connection). You probably need to go into the Router setup and add your IP provider info.

Usually you get to the Router settings by putting the routers address in your windows browser (IE) address bar. The typical router addresses are 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.254 or 192.168.1.254
