Non UK software

This may be a daft question but id rather check,ive seen some software on ebay from united states cheaper than uk bought but is it the same as the same software that can be purchased in the UK?

Too generic question. You should tell the name of the software to get a reliable answer, since some are the same and some are not (mostly the licencing, that might prevent you from using it or whatever depending on what you are looking at).

Also beware that being the US a non-UE country, you may have to pay a price tag for the customs, for Italy is significant unless the packet is really small (book-size).

Ok thanks,the software is acronis true image 2012,asuming the package would be a normal dvd disc case would the customs cost be very high? if so may be worth just buying the software in the UK.
