Realizing this is a beta, I 've had some problems. I want to post the ones I can think of at the moment. These are persistant problems which no amout of "googling" has turned up any fixes for. This is on just ONE system. I need one for every day stablity, and havn't run the 3rd system long enough to know if it has problems to.

Problens With Win 7
The following are persistant problems I have running Windows 7 RC 7100. The computer is an HP Laptop G50-133US. This is a fresh install. I had greater stability when I upgraded from Vista SP1, but this install on the same computer is a clean install on a different partition.
1. IE8 is sluggish. Opening a new tab takes longer than it should.
2. Window supdate only works some of the time. It hangs for long periods oftime,or just stalls completly.
3. Install programs, MS and THIRD PARTY hang, start slowly, and take several minutes to complete. Sometimes they never complete.
4. Shutdown is broken on this system. I must use the power button to turn system off. Shutdown is not clean, resulting in being asked if I want to boot into safe mode.
5. Latest Intel Graphics relase makes system unstable. System must recover several times during a session.
6. Notification Icons are flakey. Sometimes they appear, sometimes they do not. No amount to tinkering in Personalzations helps. They tend to be different every fresh boot.
7. Wireless connection uses router to connect to Internet. Wired connection refuses to use router to go on Internet. Reports DNS server cannot be found. Reseting network adaptor doesn't help.
8. Network Printer no longers works as local pot. System does not see printserver.
9. Sleep/hybernate does not work properly consitently. Sometimes it just refuses to wake up.
10. Inconsistant installs. Every fresh install has different problems. Installs should all be the same on the same system.
11. Explorer oftend stops responding. This varies but appears most often when browsing to a new location.

Again I realize this is a beta, just trying to make sure they are addressed by MS.

Hi gjbnh, welcome to the forums.

The issues you are listing relate mainly to the original beta build 7000. The official RC has a lot more stability and a much larger driver databse. I'll try & move down your list (as if you were talking about build 7000) :p

1, IE8 has been greatly improved since 7000, and from 7068 has been almost flawless (IMO)
2, No issues to date with Windows Update (build 7100+)
3, Programs do take a bit of time to install but the overall time has been reduced dramatically in 7100
4, The sutdown issues have been linked to some antivirus software (in a few cases) so a new AV might be in order. The software compatability is much better with the RC
5, Latest Intel release is still unstable but the latest from the Intel website has no issues when installed in compat. mode for Vista
6, Notification have been improved and work as they should
9, no sleep/hibernate issues on my system
11, Explorer has been tweaked and tuned to run a lot better in 7100+

Hope this helps :)

Jeff

This is a FRESH CLEAN install.

I have used 3 different MS recomended AVs.

I will look into the Intel Graphics, but I think I was using the ;latest release.

As for your other points, they may work better on your system, but not on mine.

Again, I am using RC 7100 clean install.

Firstly i would recommend Avast! antivirus it works flawlessly for me. Don't worry about whether or not Windows thinks you have the latest driver for Intel, I've downloaded them and they work & give much better control over your GFX.
   Note
If you could list your system specs, click User CP at the top of the page and fill in the system specs page. This can helps us advise on what you can do to improve your Windows 7 experience

I too had sluggish new tabs in IE8. When I did a fresh install and did Not use Kaspersky 2009 (latest RTM release) the tab problem is no longer there. That and windows update ati driver versus dells vista's video driver, are the only thing different in the new install.

With the sleep issue, it may be related to video drivers as the sleep option is not available until a proper driver is installed, so video drivers must have something to do with sleep.

Have you tried to temporarily disable all internet protection to see if that helps with the tabs? Of course, don't leave it off, just test with it off.

Also, you can try running IE8 with no add-on's running. I believe you can use the inprivate option to run ie8 with no add-on's.

BTW, Welcome to the forum, and as mentioned above, please fill out your system specs linked from the "user cp" near the top of the forum.

I had forgotten about disabling addons, but the point is to use the OS in everyday operations. I will try it when I get the chance. The tab problem occurs regardless of the AV.

Did you first install any chipset drivers from either Windows Update or HP's Downloads & Drivers Page. No Windows seven chipset drivers yet, but I installed vista's chipset with no problems. Think its better to go with vista's than none at all.

Your HP Model/HP/Vista Drivers Web page
Select software and drivers*

Double check your model once there and also check your bios version to see there's an update for it.
