I have an XP system running on the C: primary partition; Windows 7 on the G: partition. I just installed Windows 7 on the G: partition and when I reboot, it goes directly to Windows 7. What have I missed?

Greatly appreciate your help.

Thank you! That appears to be the problem. What is the best way to undo what I have done? I do not want to do anything to my XP...just want to have it boot up in XP...again.

I just told you to boot the Win7 disk to correctly http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1649-clean-install-windows-7-a.html following the steps in the blue link.

Make sure you install it only to the partition you created for Win7 and not the XP partition. Before reinstalling, format the partition making double sure you are choosing the correct one, then Click Next to being install.

While it's installing look over these steps for doing a perfect http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/219487-clean-reinstall-factory-oem-windows-7-a.html#post1839164 which compile everything that works best to install and maintain Win7. Be sure to read how drivers are handled so you get that correct.

Win7 should configure a Dual Boot so you can access XP again. If not install EasyBCD Download Registration - NeoSmart Technologies to Win7 to add XP to a Dual Boot menu.

Thank you for the help! I am up and running after doing the Clean Install as suggested and running Easy BCD. My apprehension had to do with the question of whether the Clean Install would preserve my XP which was put to rest in the second response.

Note: wish I did not have to keep XP available, however my client is still using applications that are XP dependent.

With appreciation...

Todd
