Windows 7 home Premium it isnt showing the DVD/CD drive and never has I think but one time when I built it but if I put a dvd in it acts like its running ect. In device manager its not even showing DVD/CD device at all. I opened regedit and under Class/4D36E965 I deleted the upper and lower filters and still not working.

How can I show this drive? Thanks!

What kind of drive is it? IDE, SATA? What model?
It always helps if you would provide more details about your system.
If the drive has never worked, have you considered replacing it?

It has worked before because I used CD to install Windows. It's been a while but I do believe it's a data slim drive and can't remember the brand.

Try replacing one thing at a time. If any of these steps cause the drive to work, then you have found the cause of the problem.
  1. Make sure that each of the plugs (the SATA data cable and the power connector) is securely plugged in, both on the drive and on the motherboard.
  2. Plug the drive cable into a different SATA port.
  3. Swap the drive cable with another cable.
  4. Swap the DVD drive with the DVD drive in another computer, if one is available.

I use Samba to share my data drive with the other computers at my house and with my guest session in VMWare Workstation Player.
Is the ODD recognized on BIOS? The SATA port can also be disabled on BIOS.
