So my computer was doing fine. It started acting a little slow, so I decided to shut it down and give it a rest. When I turned it on, this is what came up...

"Startup repair cannot repair this computer automatically"

Below it said, Send information about this problem, so I clicked that. I closed that window and at the bottom there was a link that said View advanced options for systems recovery. I clicked that came 6 links; Startup repair, which was thing I'd already tried, System Restore, System Image Recovery, Windows Memory Diagnostic, Command Promp and Toshiba recovery wand. I've already tried the Restore and Memory Diagnostic a bunch of times, but the Restore keeps saying that it failed due to error and the Memory thing isn't doing anything. The image recovery won't work and the command prompt does nothing and I'm pretty sure that if I click The Toshiba thing it will erase everything on my computer. I have absolutely no idea of what wouldve caused this. The only thing I could think of is saving some Unicode characters onto a 2010 Microsoft Word Document. But I doubt that's what did it. Anyways, please tell me any suggestions that you might have. I've restarted it a bunch of times and it hasn't done anything. Sorry for the lack of commas and stuff, I had to type this whole thing up on my iPod touch.

Hello HalesXD and welcome to Seven Forums.

Since this problem just recently started you could possibly restore your computer to an earlier date/time using a restore point. You might have to access Safe Mode through Advanced Boot Options.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/69585-safe-mode.html

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html

Or you might have damaged/corrupted system files. Run a System File Checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two, this tutorial.) If problems are found run the scan 3 times rebooting in between each scan.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html

It also wouldn't hurt to run a full scan with your antivirus/antispyware of choice. You could also run a couple of free on-demand scanners like Malwarebytes, HitmanPro, Superantispyware, etc because no antimalware product is 100% effective 100% of the time. (If there was such a thing we'd all be using it and everyone else would be out of business.)

Thanks! I'll try the System file checker, but I've already tried the Syetem restore and it kept saying it failed due to error

I pressed F8 and it opened uP to the menu thing and tried to acess safe mode, but It sent me right back to where I was. I turned it on and got to the menu and tried Last Known Good Configuration and the same thing happened...

Have you installed anything recently? Have you done any registry tweaks/or used registry cleaners(ccleaner, glary utilities)?

Nope, I have no idea what couldve caused this. Would UNIcode letters do this kind of thing? Because I did save a document with some of them.

Do you have a Windows 7 installation cd or Repair cd? If so, try running system restore from there. Also, try different restore points. Don't try the same restore point again and again if it doesn't work.

Here's what I want you to do. I want you to back up ALL of the data in the users folder. That is C:\Users Since your pc can't boot into Windows 7, I want you to download Ubuntu and burn it to a disc: Download | Ubuntu
After you burn it to a disc, I want you to boot off of the Ubuntu disc. Don't do anything to Ubuntu until you come up to the screen where you can either try Ubuntu or install Ubuntu. Select Try Ubuntu. Once Ubuntu loads up, you should see your c: drive on the desktop. It won't be called c, though. Double click on the drive. Now, connect an external hard drive. Right-click on your users folder on your main hard drive and click copy. Now, paste it into your external hard drive. once you have copied your users folder, reboot your pc. There will be a power icon in the bar at the top right of your screen. You can click on that and choose too reboot. Now, start your pc and tap f8 to get to the Windows advanced options menu. Select repair your computer. Now, run that Toshiba program and tell it to restore your computer to factory defaults.
