Solved Notification Icons on Taskbar not loading on boot

I've tried searching google and here, but without much success.

The problem is quite simple actually, but I don't know the cause or the resolution of the problem:

Notification Icons on the right side of the taskbar are not being loaded upon boot.
As I gather, programs are being loaded, but not shown on the taskbar.
A log off and log on resolves the problem, but ain't the permanent solution.

Also, a reboot doesn't solve it.

It's quite random actually, not always, but it happens more often than it doesn't.

I read something about timeout of the shell32.dll or so, but I only found modified files for Windows XP.

Can anyone help me out with this? Where should I start looking?

Thanks
Kosta

Nope, none.

SFC: yes, no errors. "...did not find any integrity violations"

I think it might be a good idea to start looking for malware. If your current AV and/or firewall are hindered by malware you would see an indication of it in that area of the taskbar.

Better (worse?) written malware may attempt to hide those warning notifications from you.

I have no malware, as stupid as it sounds.
A new created user has no problems. Mine does.
I have Kaspersky running and all is OK.

And if malware, then after logoff-logon it wouldn't work too, right?

boobah,

Thanks, I just tried it. It unfortunately doesn't fix the issue. Again one two of the programs didn't show up: Canon Network Selector or Daemon Tools. I suspected DT, I disabled it, rebooted, and then Canon icon didn't appear.

Currently... seems to have resolved itself by itself. Only thing I did was install new version of Daemon Tools, but it would be very weird if that was causing the problem. The problem is more likely something else. The timeout in the shell32.dll probably. But I have found no way to edit it in the W7.

Another Way To Restore Missing Taskbar Icons

This appears to be a recurring, random problem in Windows 7. A quick solution is to click on this link to Microsoft's support page for a fairly easy solution: Guided Help: Enable the Quick Launch bar in Windows 7. Happy belated Thanksgiving!
