Hiya, just a while I ago I tried to install the NVidia driver update in my windows update but it says it failed after trying to install. Was wondering could this corrupt my video card driver or registery or can anything be done to make this error like it never happened before? Currently I'm using a GTX 460 with NVidia driver version 311.06 , many thanks.

go to windows update, click on the "View update history" link, find the driver that failed to install, double click on it and post the error code in this thread.

if the update proceeds to show up in windows update, you may wish to right click on it and hit "hide update".

Could my registry or NVidia driver be corrupted after the update? I'm wondering should I do a clean reinstallation for my video driver.

Your driver should be fine. The same thing happens to me every so often. I just hide the update if it shows up again. its just a glitch in windows update.

P.S. If you choose to re install your driver, i would go to the nvidia website and get it from there. not windows update.

My problem is slightly different. I tried to update a Windows 7 installed Nvidia driver ( Quardo K2000 x64) with the latest driver from the Nvidia site. The install failed without an error code and left me with no driver in device manager. A second clean install also failed. I recovered the drive with an Acronis image but I can't ,update. Anyone have any way to fix this. BTW I do have a Mirage driver installed by TightVNC. Could this be a problem?
Thanks.
