Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT screen blinks/flickers

Hi

I've installed a fresh copy of Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on my Acer Aspire 5920G.
Before I've installed my Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT drivers everything was just fine.

This blinking sometimes happens in period of few seconds, sometimes it can pass a couple of minutes and I think that while I'm in a game or watching a movie, there's no blinking. It happens so fast, so it doesn't affects on anything I do, but it's so annoying.

So I've reinstalled my drivers, this time I've tried those from Acer website (version 8.15.11.8664), but still my screen was blinking. I've even tried drivers for Vista (Acer website) and the newest beta drivers from Nvidia website (195.55) but blinking is still here.

So can anyone help me with this?

When you say blinking, is it like the screen just goes black for a couple of seconds, and then it comes back like nothing happened?

Exactly, but not for a few seconds, a few milliseconds

Strange.... Sorry I am going to be no help to you at all, but I am getting exactly the same thing at the moment. I wonder if it's an issue with the latest Geforce Drivers

Here is a response I got on another forum but no solution.

To everyone with nVidia GeForce 8600M GT video card blinking/black screen/sudden death problem:
There is a REPORTED HARDWARE ISSUE related to 8600M GT (MXMII card) with nVidia MCP67MV chipset used on the motherboard. The PROBLEM is with one of the CIRCUITs on the MOTHERBOARD, NOT THE GRAPHICS CARD itself.
The problems may or may not occur.
If it does occur, it may be in a form of a blinking, "distorted or "striped" video and sometimes no video at all" or black screen (while a notebook is powered on) etc.
There is no known published way how to test it.
So, if you have this MCP67MV chipset

Replacing the old 8600M GT with a new 8600M GT does NOT solve the problem.
Replacing the old 8600M GT with a different nVidia graphics card model or even with ATi does NOT solve the problem.
Playing with Windows 7, various ATi, nVidia or third party control SW or different types of drivers does NOT solve the problem for the HARDWARE problem may occur anytime in the future, without any warning.
Solution: Preventive (? if the vendor grants that in case you are in the possibly-affected group) circuit replacement/mending.

I originally intended to buy this Aspire 5920G, even older, for great specs, but this issue and to my opinion a very fragile opening handle mechanism (I was worried about breaking the wabcam handle) discouraged me from doing that.

By the way 195* arent the latest Forceware drivers. you want the 257* ones you cang et them by selecting your graphics card from below.
