Nvidia or ATI i cant decide

Silly question really because you will get those with nvidia cards saying nvidia and those with ati saying......

What ever brand they have they are going to stick up for, it's called fanboism.



Only you can decide by reading reviews etc because like I said it will all be biased on here.

Speaking personally for myself, but I am far from being a brand loyal fanboy and as such, am unbiased.

I have had nvidia cards before, currently have ATI now - my next card? - will be whatever card I deem suitable for my needs, regardless of brand.


Not everyone can be covered by a simple blanket statement. Some of us do attempt to maintain a sense of objectivity, rather than subjectivity.

As for making light of the latest nvidia driver, personally my input has been more of a subtle dig at the very same fanbois of which you speak.

5870 for performance, 4890 to save cash, onboard I would only use HD 4200.

- get two 4890's and run them in Crossfire

Woz flicking thru some recent tests of the latest ATi/Nvidia chipsets.

There is nothing between them speed wise, except Nvidia seem to run hotter and consume more power than Ati!

If you have AMD m/board it's Ati all the way!

I ran an ATI card for several years and had zero trouble with it. When I upgraded for Windows Seven, I bought an NVidia - and that card proved to be a complete disaster. I bought another NVidia and it has been fine after an initial driver issue. I'm not a gamer; all I want is good video on my monitor and no freezes.

With the 7600 GS? AGP or PCI-E?

I have an 7600 GS AGP in another machine and had to revert to an older driverset (176.xx or 178.xx) because it failed to diplay a signal via the DVI connection on any of the newer releases. Vga output was fine.

Once I reverted, it's been running fine since.

Mine is a 7600 GS and I had to install a sightly older driver set. the latest drivers did not work nor did the drivers that came on the disc. Mine running fine with no problem; the NVidia control panel is even working.

Unless the OP is getting a laptop, it's actually the 400 series he'd be waiting for.

Well if they're getting better that indicates that they used to and still do suck... but just not as bad as before...

I am not a fanboy of anything. But for price for performance ATI is king right now. 5000's series still has some bugs but the 10.2 and amd hotfix took care of it despite not being able to control my own fan settings. Mines quiet so oh well and I like it. (5850 Sapphire toxic edition)

The GTX260 still has power despite sucking power too. I would only say to change up if you want something quieter or if you must. Not many DX11 games, I think 3?. I would wait and play it out unless you want Top dog power so be prepared for the wallet to cry when the time comes though.

GTX295 is a big no atm. With 500$+ I would point you to the higher 5990 cards If your willing to sell out that kinda of dough and have something that will become yesterdays cards.
