Occational BSOD at hibernate

Hello,

First of all I'm so greatful that there are people in these forums dedicated to help on these BSOD-issues. Hopefully you can help me as well.

I experience random (or so it seems) BSOD when my PC goes to sleep. I cannot reproduce what is going on. What I can tell you is that rather often the PC freezes for up to a minute and then resumes normal operations. It is an HTPC so I watch a lot of TV on it. And nowhere is this more apparent, because suddently the PC just freezes.

Anyway, I have run chkdsk /f, sfc /scannow, memcheck86 and no errors are reported.

The dmp-files are attached as prescribed in the sticky-post in the forum.

A small addition: I noticed my gpu is listed as standard VGA card. I had just uninstalled the GFX drivers prior to running this test. In fact it is an AMD 4200-series integrated GPU on my motherboard.

Does this happen when your PC is transitioning INTO sleep or OUT OF sleep? Can you reconfigure your recovery settings to save a kernel dump instead of minidump and provide that on the next crash?

I don't ever see the bsod but windows most often reports it when booting. I suspect it is before.

You should start with a basic step like disabling hibernation, then re-enabling it. This will force a recreation of the hiberfile.sys file.

1. Open a command prompt and type powercfg: -hibernate off
2. Reboot
3. Repeat above with command: powercfg: -hibernate on

In fact, I'll just go out and recommend this... Completely eliminate the need for hibernation. IMO it's a legacy technology and has no place in today's computing environment. Instead, use sleep states. Sleep can be configured in the power settings (Control Panel).

If you're set on using hibernation then do the above. Also update all storage drivers, because:

INTERNAL_POWER_ERROR (a0)
The power policy manager experienced a fatal error.
Arguments:
Arg1: 0000000000000009, A fatal error occured while preparing the hibernate file.
Arg2: ffffffffc0000185, Status code
Arg3: 0000000000000001, Mirroring phase
Arg4: 0000000000000000

0x185 = Error during an I/O operation.

Start there and I will take a more thorough look at the full crash dump that you provided.

I will try and disable it. In fact I made a mistake in saying it goes to hibernate. I always use sleep. My apologies.

Anyway, the error message seems to point to hibernation. I will try and disable it.

Yea, it's definitely a hibernation issue. If you disable it and the crashes continue then we'll keep going, but I'm going to suspect we'll have different stack calls.

Sorry for not returning to you. Here is what solved the problem:
I replaced the SATA-cable.

The event-log reported a lot of I/O errors on the harddrive, and since no HDD-tests revealed any problems I replaced the cable.

Hopefully you can use this info for future reports similar to mine.
