2) One question (hoping it has not been asked and answered, I could not go through the whole thread, I was rolling on the floor laughing way before that. Glados cake reference was brilliant...): are there guidelines for a "-rep", or just good old common sense?

To me, it's easier to use the "Report Post" at the top right in every post; I can't remember ever neg repping someone.

If the OP is clearly violating rules, being personal, flaming, trolling, etc. Use your judgement but remember if you slap someone they may slap back. I think we all know when someone deserves it. I have only used it twice but hey thats me

With regards to the use of Neg rep against the report post option - the advantage of the report post route is that the range of sanctions available to the admins is wider than just the neg rep, (which is fixed and can be excessive if given by senior members), and will mean that any action deemed nesasary will be more appropriate. I would therefore request that if you have any doubt about the content of a post - you report it - as this will help maintain the forum's great spirit of community.
