Any insight on what you are seeing as far as messages as to why it won't load? I don't know where you got the build, but maybe there is a problem with it. Was this a clean install of 7048?

Three desktops and one laptop with good specs..

Vista and now 7 in 32 and 64 bit.
I do have the same problem on all x64 builds of Windows 7: the start menu shortcuts of Office 2007 do not work. I can start all programs directly (by opening the exe files inf C:\Program Files (x86)\...) and I also can open a doc file, for example. When I manually create a shortcut to the exe file, it also works.

It's just the default shortcuts in the start menu (which are created during setup) that don't work. When I open the properties of such a shortcut, the "Target location" field is empty (and can not be edited). The "Target" field says: "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007". So obviously, the shortcuts were created incorrectly, because they don't contain any path information to the target?

Regards!

I think it was a permissions issue. I had to remove the shortcuts and put them back on.

Im now on 7057 having formatted and have no issues.

Office 12 Shortcut problems

I am also having no luck with starting any component of Office 12 (window 7048, I think everything worked in Windows 7000 build). I can get them to work if a: Use program compatibility wizard or (best, lauch from explorer the file directly in programs files, ec. directory.

As one pointed out, the startup shortcuts seem to be corrupt.

I had a problem with the Start menu with Office 2007 and it turned out to be a bad contex menu entry from an app called "Absolute shield File Shredder". Once I uninstalled it, the Start menu functioned normally.

Hi!

Thanks - that's fixed the problem! In my case, it was "FastFolders" (by www.desksoft.com), a utility which I can not live without, by the way! I contacted DeskSoft and they already fixed the problem in the latest version.

This also fixed my problem, that the "View" button in the slide show gadget didn't work. Now everything works fine again, including FastFolders.

Regards!

I suggest you consider a clean install of 7057, 7048 had a number of problems.
