Office 2010 Error 1923 Service osppsvc could not be installed

Began getting this error with previously normally functioning office 2010. Attempted repair with no positive results.

Uninstalled with plans to reinstall but unable to do so. Get the above mentioned error plus 'verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services.'

Ran MS fixit for this problem but no positive results

Yes. About 10 times...
Uninstalled, deactivated Microsoft Security Essentials, restarted and then attempted reinstall

Yes. Uninstall did not work from control panel so I used fixit to remove it
It is gone
Problem now is reinstallation...

As you are having problems reinstalling office 2010 I would think the previous installation has not completely uninstalled.

You may have to resort to the Manual Method that is shown in that Website I mentioned in post#4, as there may be items in the registry that are blocking the reinstall.

If you decide to change the registry be sure to back it up first & follow the recommendations carefully, so as not to make any errors.

Had already tried the fixit but did so again a few times with similar results
Have read that this may be related to the fact that it I have Pro Plus which is an enterprise edition
Does anyone have an opinion on this?

As far as I know the Enterprise Edition is volume licensed. Are you still associated with the organisation that has the license & if so you may have to seek their help with this problem. If you are no longer associated with them then you may be in breach of the licensing arrangements.
I think this may be what is causing the problem you mentioned in your first post "verify that you have sufficient privileges to install system services."

I really don't know much about Office Pro Plus Enterprise editions. I have & use Office Pro 2013 which is a retail version.

I just came across a thread which suggests a resolution. However, it does include a registry change, so please ensure that you create a Restore Point and back-up the registry BEFORE making any changes.

Tried but get the following error after giving Network Services full control:
"An error occurred wile applying security information to: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared
Access is denied"

I tried GOTJ's fix but got the same access denied error message
Is there a way to reset all permissions to default?
Do you think this might solve my problem?

Irene the OP has Office 2010 Pro Plus Enterprise Edition. This is normally bought by large organisations for licensing multiple computers & requires a special license for this.
I think his problem is related to this.
Husaberger where did you get this copy of office 2010 & do you have the appropriate license for it. If you don't have the license for it then you are in using it illegally.

I also use the HUP Office suites. I have never experienced any problems of this nature.
