Solved Office 2010 won't go away

I recently installed Office Home & Business 2013. I thought I had uninstalled Office 2010, which I had previously; but when Windows updates, it still tries (and fails) to install updates for Office 2010 (sample screenshot attached). I also occasionally get other hints that Office 2010 is still lurking around. However, if I try to uninstall it through the Control Panel, or using Revo Uninstaller (a favourite of mine), I cannot find any trace of it there. How can I get rid of it? All help will be gratefully received.

I've seen this before and I don't know the answer. But it bothered me so much I switched my update settings to "Windows only". And with MS pushing so many questionable packages lately, I also have switched to "Check and notify only".

Read through & follow the direction in this website. It does seem fairly detailed & could take some time. You would need to be careful that you do not inadvertently remove items relating to Office 2013. Office 2010 is actually version 14 & Office 2013 is version 15.

Many thanks, paul1149, Boozad, whs, and Ranger4. More by chance than anything else, I followed whs's link first, which led me to the Fixit tool, and this seems to have worked. I will keep this thread on my page for now, so that, if there are further problems, I can try some of the other solutions offered. In any case, I very much appreciate the help from all of you.
