office and photoshop hangs when saving

office 2007 and photoshop CS3 and the demo version of CS4 hangs when saving documents. also a really obcure program SFX pro 6 from stage research will do the same when I try to save or even close the application.

when I try to save the document they will crash "not responding" when I try to close it I get the usual window asking what I want to do. when I click on close program it wont close just stays in the "not responding" status I can continue with other programs and even open a new window in Office. task manager wont end the process when I try it does not give me an error but the progam does not close. I cant log off or shut the computer down it just seems to ignore it. the only way is to pull the plug or equivelent. in the case of photoshop and word 2007 it is hit and miss but in SFX pro its every time I save. the good part is when I reboot I find that it did actually save it so I dont loose my work.

any idea what could be the culprit? has anyone else experienced this.

all the programs installed fine Photshop CS3 and CS4 demo and office installed fine I installed CS4 to see if it would have the same issue and yes exaclty the same problem. and the all run fine except when I try to save the document or picture. thats when problems start. it works about 4 out of 5 but when it crashes its just a pain. Occasionaly I can close off photoshop without crashing the system but Word and SFX up to this point can only be closed by crashing. I even tried waiting out left it over night no joy.

I had issues with Acrobat and tried to install it a few times. it installed but no printer or PDF tools in office. the above troubles may have started then.

I think I fixed it

not really usefull answer as it does not really pinpoint the cause but I ran windows 7 install again as an upgrade esentially upgrading from windows 7 to windows 7 I just ran a batch on photoshop image processor that would hang after the first few images now completed all 97 images saving them just fine. also tried word opening and saving many documents over and over and no crashes. lets hope that that fixes it permanently.
