Hello everyone, I'm pretty sure you've been over this over a thousand times but unfortunately I didn't come across any post concerning the ADI AD2000B chipset of the onboard soundcard of ASUS P6T Deluxe v2 motherboard.

As with most posts concerning the 5.1 surround matter, only the 2 front speakers play and the central one does only when Sonic Focus is enabled. Needless to say that in SoundMax test of the speakers, every one of them is being heard and passes the test, however in games,videos,mp3s only the front speakers play.

Since this is the first post I've made asking for assistance online, feel free to ask anything that hasn't been made clear or is being absent from this post =)

Thanks in advance

XFied, welcome to the forums.

Unless the source is encoded in 5.1 all you're going to get is stereo. To get sound from all speakers when the source is only stereo you need to use an surround upmix of some kind (CMSS3D on Creative cards, speaker fill on Realtek). Not very familiar with the SoundMax software, is that what Sonic Focus is supposed to be, or is it called something else (found a couple of pics but the are from XP with what looks like a CMSS3D equivalent called "Virtual Theater Surround").

Also make sure it is set to 5.1 in both the SoundMax and Windows speaker settings. For games there may not be much you can do if there isn't the option for 5.1/surround in the game's settings, short of using the above mentioned upmix.

Thank you for your prompt response,

Surely it's being set on 5.1 from both Soundmax and Sound settings off control panel.
You can take a glance about SoundMax here:

http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/12073-soundmax-ad1988b-driver-windows-7-a.html

(redirects to another post, if you need me to upload screenshots lemme know but it looks exactly like in the link above)

Concerning the games, it's exactly as you say but I cant stand 2.1 on mp3s/movies =)

Those help a lot, but none of them show anything to do with a speaker fill type function, and without that non-5.1 sources are going to stay in stereo. The one for the Sonic Focus, what shows up (if anything) when you click on Continue?

Sonic Focus (when enabled center speaker works in addition, when disabled just the 2 front speakers)

Options: Dynamics, Solo Clarity, Brilliance, Deep Bass.

So when its enabled you can hear the difference in the sounds quality/depth but its caused by those 4 settings. I don't know if thats what you wanted to know, sorry for my bad english, if i misunderstood please let me know =)

It may or may not be there (or even work if it is), but have a look in the Windows Speaker properties for this setting,

vsurround.JPG

and if it is enable it and see if that gets you 5.1.

Short of getting an actual sound card, sorry but yes I'm out of ideas.

Going to see if I can't find some more help for you.
