I just got my Dell today. I had the exact same Dell 5 days ago and was having the same problem. I took it to a Best Buy and the Geek squad said that I had a bad wireless card. So I got a new computer and now I'm having the same problem but worse. I just booted up my Dell with Window's Home Premium 64 bit for the first time minutes ago. After going through all the initial startup info I tried to get online wirelessly to check my email. I could not get online at all. It said that my computer had "excellent signal strength" but "limited to no connectivity". Sometimes I can surf the web and sometimes I can't. I have antivirus software and I am using firefox
(as internet explorer would just keep getting this pop-up that said that Internet Explorer was not working). I have the correct network password and all the other computers on the network work fine. Even my old old toshiba works great. My computer is brand new and already having problems.

I have full signal strength and it just says "no internet access" under my network name. It will go in and out of working internet and its very annoying. I have reset the router and modem and check the router. The router works fine and everyone else seems to connect to the computer fine. PLEASE HELP ME!!

Without knowing the model name or number of your dell, or the manufacturer name, model name, model number and revision number of the network adapter that you seem to be having problems with.....
Here's a shot in the dark for you.
Some Dell wireless adapter have a default setting for BSS Mode (N) and that can cause similiar issues as you are experiencing so give this a whirl.
Open device manager
expand network adapters
select then right click the problem wireless adapter and choose properties
select the "Advanced" tab at the top
In the left column titled "Property:" see if you have a BSS Mode listed. If so select it and in the right column titled "Value:" use the drop down arrow to change from 802.11n to 802.11g
OK your way back out of there and reboot and see if that helps.
Regards
Randy

Randy, I tried what you advised, but I'm not sure if my computer has the same set up. I didn't get any results when I changed the "Wireless Mode" from 802.11 a/b/g to 802.11g. 802.11n was not an option.

I'm still having the same problem and I also notice that at school I have no problem, but at home I still have a very slow connection if I have anything at all.

i have decided to include the specs of my PC:

Dell XPS15
It has an Intel(R) Centrino(R) Advanced N-6230 wireless card (I think its called the wireless card.
The model number is OXPCG3
Also listed on the bottom of my computer are other numbers, the product key, etc. I think that I gave you the model number.

When I troubleshoot my connection it says that "the default gateway was not available" or it says something about my modem being off (which its not). A couple of times it says that there is a break in connection between the router and the modem. But I'm not sure how thats possible, when all my roommates have perfect, fast internet connection.

Does anyone have any ideas? I'm not very tech savy (obviously) but this is a brand new computer and it irritates me that I'm already having problems. We have a Netgear n300 WNR2000 v3 router. It's like my computer isn't compatible with the router or something. Also all my roommates have Macs, but my old Toshiba PC worked just fine with this router and modem. We have a SB5100 SURFboard cable modem (from TWC).

Any ideas at all would be appreciated! Thanks!

So I fixed the problem:

I was messing around with my adapter settings and I unchecked the IPv6 box and that seemed to fix everything. I hope that Netgear fixes that soon.:(

Is Netgear the maker of the card or the router? If this problem manifested both at your place and at BestBuy, it sounds like a card problem.
I just ran into this exact problem with a Linux install, using a card and a router known to be able to handle IPv6. So in that case it's the linux card drivers.

An older router can be flashed, and that might enable IPv6. But one way or another, pretty soon v6 is not going to be optional, because IP numbers will have to expand out into them.

I agree with Paul,
Go to the Netgear website and check for an update.

IPv6 will not be an option in the near-future.
