Hi, Ive just bought a new Laptop and I need to swap files over from my old Laptop to my new one. In my house we have 1 Desktop computer which is directly connected to the internet via wire in the back and both Laptops share the internet from the Desktop wirelessly. I have 2 Laptops one is brand new. Im going to call the old Laptop - Laptop 1 and the new Laptop - Laptop 2.

I can connect to the homegroup of the Desktop Computer with both Laptops but I cannot connect the two Laptops together with Homegroup. When I go on to Join a Homegroup on both Laptops it just comes up with the Desktops Homegroup.

Ive made Homegroups on both Laptops and they dont come up only the Desktops Homegroup. Ive deleted the one of Laptop 2 and left the Homegroup on Laptop 1 but I still cannot connect the two together.

Can anyone help please. Thanks

Hi Thomas1700, Welcome to Seven Forums.
All I know is that some version of Windows can create a Homegroup some can't, but can join. You can only use one HG at any one time unless you have an even number of pc's i.e. 2 per HG. Try leaving your current settings as 3 on a HG, then set up a Network connection for the Laptops. Here's how I do it. View attachment File sharing.pdf
