open file location problem

On my windows 7 when I go in properties and click open file location of any desktop shortcut it does nothing. Same problem with my chrome too the show in folder doesn't seem to work. Help Please

I also uninstalled IE9 but the problem persists

HI and welcome to the Forum
I don't quite understand what your problem is? If you right click on a shortcut on your desktop and click "Properties" where do you see "open file location" as it doesn't appear when I do it in any browser? If you just right click on the icon on your desktop you will see this:

Try right clicking a desktop shortcut and select "Properties". Is the target location correct? What happens if you click the "Open File Location" from there? See image below;

Now I have looked more closely I find that particularly with MS Office programs the Target is shown as just the title of the program not the path to the exe so the Open File Location button is greyed out! see below:
