"Open With" Problem

Hey everyone. Computer learner here. My wife's computer is having an issue. Everytime I try to open a program I get the "Open With" window. Documents open ok. I tried running Malwarebytes as well but I get the same thing. When I try to use IE to open IE I get a continuous File Download loop. Any ideas what I can do?

Hello Dominator, and welcome to Seven Forums.

It sounds like you may have an association issue. You could download and merge the exe and lnk (LNK) options in the tutorial below to restore the default associations for these file extensions and hopefully fix your issue afterwards.

Can this be done from another computer and then brought over to hers? I can't run IE. I even tried System Restore and I got the same "Open with" window.

You won't need to run IE to make the registry changes from Brink's tut. Just dowload, unzip, right click and merge. Then you can delete the dowloads if you want.

Oops, sorry, yes you can get the zip files from another PC and save to a USB or some other device, burn to a CD etc, then open on the wife's PC and run them.
