Solved Overclock I7 950

How come every time I try to change the BLCK My computer acts up? Even to a single point? It is set to 160 and I can't even change it to 161. Also, I'm not positive on which settings I should use to accompany this, like the QPI and memory timings, etc. that need to be proportionally set according to some kind of ratio? I'm just learning about OCing, I've read a few things. Let me know if anyone has any ideas about how I should overclock or suggestions.

Overclocking it a art so I would suggest starting with learning the basics.Beginners Guides: Overclocking the CPU, Motherboard and Memory - PCSTATS.com

Then join a forum like overclockers.net or any other forum dedicated to the art of overcoclking.
As you'' eventually find out even the exact same system will overclock differently.

One of the main things you need to do is learn your bios for that downloading the manual to your board would be a start.

Others will have more to offer but ... it's a very time consuming art and requires a lot of patience. So That's my 2 certs worth.

Hi DustSailor,

I too have a 950 and a Gigabyte board - UD5. If you're going to overclock your 950, you're also going to have to up voltages - CPU Vcore, QPI/Vtt, and DRAM voltage.

I had my 950 running at 3.8gig with these settings.....

CPU Clock ratio - x23
BLCK 160
Uncore clock at 21
System Multiplier x10
CPU Vcore 1.2500
QPI/Vtt 1.215

Worked for me, though I had to play around a bit with voltages. I would suggest you do the same thing as some of these voltage may be lower or higher depending on chip. These setting worked for me, I can't and won't say they'll work for you, thus you use at your own risk.

As the Fabe has stated - Overclocking is an art and you should do some reading before getting into it. You can destroy your system if it's done wrong!!!
