Overclocking GPU

Thanks man,ill be doing all of this right away, just one question if the memory clock is 8002mhz how much should it show ingame ?

the same. memory dosnt boost. dont OC memory too much. it could be harmful and cause artifacting and crashing even on the plain desktop.

Im just trying to get this overclock as same as the Guru3d clocks(to have the most from this card) i have the boost clock now at 1516(ingame),86+ on Afterburner, while just adding 300+ to the mem clock as u said,Guru3d has the mem clock on 8002mhz by adding 500+ to the mem clock but since the clocks are getting much more ingame 500+ will be way 2 much

So adding 500+ to the mem clock gives me something around 4000mhz,all i want to know is when Guru3d said 8002mhz what should that mean for the mem clock ingame, so by knowing how much it means ingame i could adjust the clocks same as i did with the core clock

doing this so far gave me a boost of 8-9 frames :D

Let me reiterate...

ok i dont mean this in a bad way, but get out of your mind that your card will be able to achieve the exact settings as another person's card. every single card is different.

MSI may say something like 3000MHz, but multiply that by 2 and you get your actual memory frequency.

Mine in MSI says 3402MHz, but multiply that by 2 and its actual clock is 6804MHz or 6.8GHz.

The only advice I can give is what I have always done.

I overclock a GPU for benchmarking ONLY. I always hit issues when gaming with GPU overclocks. What might be "stable" in one game is not in another. It's one big headache!

My thinking regarding GPU's is, if you like overclocking them, overclock them for benchmarking. For gaming just make sure you buy a GPU that is powerful enough at stock for your gaming needs. If it's not then buy another.

I have only skimmed this thread, is the 970 not powerful enough to run your games? It certainly should be at 1920x1080.

when i buy a gpu, i think of 1 thing:

1) Am i Ocing?

If i am Ocing, i will look for the card that will yeld the best results with the coolest temps (Typically asus cards)
If i am NOT Ocing, i would look for just the highest clocked stock card (Typically EVGA)

Like Paul said, some games will not play nice with the clocks. what might be stable in one game will not in another. BF4 for me is stable at 1254MHz, but Bioshock infinite crashes immediately at that. Bioshock is stable at 1202 max.
