Overclocking to 3.4

Welcome to SF. I don't believe this is going to happen, not here. We'll refer you to materials that will educate you and walk you through the process of overclocking all with the caution of this all is on you and because of this the education becomes part and particle to the process. Like investing in the stock market or buying loto tickets the idea here is to only do what you can afford to lose. You are adding heat, voltage and stress to electronics which is a risky business with a marginal return in performance. Now I'm a AMD / MSI user and overclock-er. My rig has a large sealed water cooled CPU which controls the added heat, you may want to add a complete breakdown of your components and be prepared to up the case and CPU cooling potential before you mess with OC'g.
I'm not looking to be a buzz kill, I only ask you to read, research and go methodically and slowly taking all the steps to protect your investment by testing your incremental changes for stability. You will get great advice here and with luck you'll learn a ton of new things about your system and future dream systems. Knowledge is Power !

As you are new to overclocking go slowly and don't try to make big adjustments at one time. It take much experimentation and testing each change to find a stable overclock, it generally won't happen all at once.
It may not even be possible to get your set up to 3.4GHz, but half the fun is trying if one is careful.

Without knowing what HSF he's using, 3.4 might be the limiting factor due to temps. But the itself chip will do 3.4 pretty easily. Might not need much of a vcore increase either.

(I've got the same chip in one of my rigs. Around 3.6 the DDR2 800 RAM starts to become a bit of a limiting factor.)

I'm running a Q9550 at 3.4Ghz. On my mobo, I left my multiplier at 8.5x, but increased my FSB from 333Mhx to 400Mhz. My RAM is DDR2-800...so it's running right at 800Mhz.

I actually DROPPED my vcore from 1.250V to 1.175V. I'm running on the stock Intel cooler. My idle temps are around 28-34C, and my max temps running Prime95 are around 65C. I ran a handbrake convert today and my CPU's ran at nearly 100% for 20 minutes and I was sitting at 51C. My ambient room temps are around 18-19C as my computer is in my basement. Computer has been stable as a rock now for a few years.

Anyone can walk you through the settings, and what to change them to. But that doesnt mean it will work with your CPU/RAM/MOBO config.
Yours may crash and burn at those same settings, or it may be stable and be able to get by with less voltage.

Overclocking doesnt really work that way. And while its true a certain CPU can reach a certain clock speed easily, thats not always a guarantee. Its trial and error.

You really need to research and understand what those settings do, and what effect they have on other components. This way, if you happen to have problems, you will be far more successful in diagnosing what went wrong, and where to concentrate your changes.

i have the same pc he does except i am liquid cooled i have same ram as him my temps never go over 100F even when i am on skype, downloading movies and converting movies

I'm not going to give out my number or call anybody. Overclocking can be a fine line, and every piece of hardware (even the same CPU make and model) can react differently. You will simply have to try and experiment and get things to run stable.

dont need phone help just need your settings i know how to overclock and undervolt i do it for android phones its almost the same i just want to try your setting i break down of what you changed and the name thank you

Multi 8.5 / FSB 400 / 1.25Vcore and tweak from there RAm @ 800Mhz.
Probably need to set the RAM slower such as 667 so that it will be closer to rated speed with FSB change.

i see i never changed the ram i think thats why i had problems
