Pagefile's effect on resuming from hibernation

This has been a huge problem to me from the Windows Vista days. It is still there with Windows 7. I don't know if it has gotten any better of worse, but it is so damn irritating.

See, I use hibernation a lot. I calculated the time to get to desktop, open Opera browser with the same 3 tab session and open a new tab.

With the pagefile set to automatic, it took 2 minutes 45 seconds!!! OMG! It is about 3 times the time it takes to boot!

Without a pagefile, it took only 40 seconds. That's reasonable, but still not great.

Now... WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? I mean, come on! Why don't I see this problem discussed anywhere else? Doesn't anyone use hibernation? It was same with Vista, so it is not this Windows installation, which mind you...it 106 days old. XD

I haven't experimented with having a smaller pagefile, say a 1GB or even a 500MB one. Maybe it might improve, but then the point of having a pagefile fails....kinda.

What do you guys think?

BTW, the system specs are what's written in the relevant section.

Hi and welcome

Actually I had a similar but not as annoying to me problem. I just stopped using a page file at all. No problem. It might be a glitch in the powercfg especially if you are 64bit

Yes I'm using x64

With a small pagefile i.e 512MB, the issue is less of a problem. it added like 20s to the total time of without a pagefile. even though it doesn't give the full benefits of a pagefile, now there is some sort of RAM defragmentation going on so will reduce the wasted that's there when there is no pagefile. ideally i should look at get to 8GB RAM, and even this is not the solution to the real problem at hand, it will be a fix for my issue.

Reinstalled Windows and checked it without installing any apps. It is still so pathetic. Not as bas as 3minutes, but it still takes more than a minute and the system is not responsive for a long time even after getting back to the desktop. Can anyone else really test this and see if that is really an issue with my hardware, because i've been having the same issues with Vista and since i can't find anyone shouting out about this issue?
