Parition Problem

Hi! I'm trying to install Windows 7 on my desktop PC. It is currently running Fedora Core 9. When I get to the partition selecting menu of the installation process, it does not allow me to go to the next step, because my system is not NTFS partitioned.

Is there a way I can fix that?

Hi thebog,

The best way i think would be to create an area on the disk from within fedora to house windows 7, and if possible set the created space to unallocated,(normally simly a case of deleting the partition) once you have two partitions you can use the advanced options of the Windows 7 installer to format the partition to NTFS for install of windows

I think I've got two partitions. When I get to that part of the installation process, I've got one "SYSTEM" partition, and one "PRIMARY" partition. Where do I find those advanced options?

Hi thebog,

there should be a button at the lower right of the screen that shows the available patrtitions - Called drive options advanced - I believe. I have seen the option but cannot remember exactly where it is as in all my installs the partitions were pre-defined so did not need to use it

The thing is... I know how to install an operation system, but I've got some problems with my display, and it displays buggy exactly the part where the button is. I saw some videos on YouTUBE, I figured out there it should be, but I can't guess where to click.

that does make things difficult

the only thing I can suggest there is to use the keyboard to navigate it will be either the arrow keys followed by enter (his is the most likely), otherwise try the tab key.

other than than don't know what to suggest

we all get too used to the mouse these days - hopefully the old fashioned way will get you past the blockage point. the fact that you have video problems during install is a worry though, as the installer only uses basic graphics settings,
