It's not an issue Mike, mine works perfectly as is. The only feature you'll lose (I think) is they're not PWM fans.

I have no problems with the stock 4 pin PWM fans, there`s no reason to ever put them at full speed, so noise is not an issue, quiet or balanced mode is fine.

Performance mode lifts the case off the desk just kidding.

I think Corsair should give everyone an H110i GT

PWM-
PWM means pulse width modulation. PWM is when you pulse a DC voltage off and on. The pulses are going so fast that they do not turn the fan off and on. All the fan sees is the "average voltage".

For example: 12V going at a PWM of 50% is the same as 6V into the fan. 12V with a PWM of 75% is the same as 9V into the fan.

A PWM output looks like this

Regular-
In a regular fan controller you use a voltage regulator to control the fan.

Example: If you want 6V, you give the fan 6V

Advantage VS Disavantages-

1.) PWM is more efficient. With a voltage regulator if you need 6V and have 12V, the other 50% of your power is completely wasted. (dissipated as heat) PWM systems are much more efficient and wast very little power.

2.) PWM is controlled digitially. PWM is also more accurate. Because it is controlled digitally, it is easy to control from your motherboard.

If you hooked your radiator fans straight up to the Asus motherboard, it will still do a great job, and the bios gives you a lot of options as far as settings.

If I run IBT my 5 AF120 3 pin fans ramp up and down, they are connected right to the motherboard, not sure why, they are set to standard in the bios.

It's okay if you use 3 pin fans, just make sure the pin is not touching to your motherboard or other metal surface which might cause a short in your system.

Use the correct Y-cable if you're paralleling fans off a single header. Or clip the Pulse/Tach wire on all but ONE fan on a header. Multiple sense/tach signals from the fans will corrupt the speed signal and result in slower fans. The tach signal is two pulses per rpm (per fan) and I guarantee the fans will never be in sync. So if you have two fans, you'll get FOUR pulses per rpm and the MB will think the fans are running too fast. The fan controller on the MB uses the tach sense from the fan to report speed and to control fan voltage on 3-wire or pulse width on 4-wire fans.

The advantage of PWM is that you get full torque because the voltage is always 12v. The voltage is just pulsed at different intervals. (Pulse Width) To make a fan run slower, the pulse width is shortened but it's still receiving 12v.

I have a couple of pieces of shop equipment that use 90v DC PWM controlled motors. It makes a HUGE difference in low speed torque verses simply reducing the voltage to control speed.

As far as I've read the mobo will only report rpm's being used
Any adjustments will have to be done with the corsair software.

I haven't looked at the MB documentation but it must be able to control fan speed. Not everyone installs Corsairs or the software. What if you run the stock cooler? Are you saying the fans would run full speed all the time? What piece of xxxx MB is that?

High end ASUS MOBOs, such as this one, provide excellent speed control in the UEFI. ASUS' AI Suite allows one to change the speed curve of the fans without exiting the OS to get into the UEFI.

If a fan port is set to PWM fan speed control, a non-PWM fan will run at full speed. That's because the fan is receiving full voltage all the time. The PWM signal lead tells the internal circuitry of a PWM fan to switch the voltage being delivered to the fan on and off to regulate the fan speed. Since non-PWM fans to not receive that signal (it's delivered on the fourth lead) nor have the internal fan circuitry to regulate speed, it will run at full speed all the time because it is receiving full voltage all the time.

However, one can run a PWM fan on voltage control; it's just less efficient and the lower end of the speed range will be higher. With earlier ASUS MOBOs, the fan headers could be set to either all PWM or all voltage control. Some later MOBO's had a switch on each fan header that would detect whether a fan plug was four wire or three wire and switch between voltage control and PWM accordingly. Others can electronically detect the difference and respond accordingly.

I just looked up the manual for this board and apparently only the CPU fan headers will automatically detect whether a fan is PWM or not and switch over to the appropriate form of speed control. The chassis fan headers can be switched between all PWM or all voltage control.

Edit: The MOBO I looked up was the Z87 but I'm not sure now which one you actually got.

Well only the liquid cooler fans are unavailable in the mobo bios it would only show the rpm's being used once you use the corsair link connections everything runs off of sata and I believe usb2 connection,
The other regular case fans are directly connected to the mobo so they can be tweaked...

Any how some images wiring is just about as good as it's going to get well I do need to replace the white strapping with black ones

Ok, based on your last post, I looked up the wrong MOBO. I couldn't tell exactly from the manual but it appears the X99 Sabertooth will allow each fan to run on either PWM or voltage control independently of the other fans. I'm not sure if the switch has to be made manually in the UEFI or if it will switch automatically

AddRam this item is the most likely Corsair has a free lighting kit with ram orders

SSD well I do have one but it's only 256gb crucial MX100 series but the 500gb Samsung's are looking like a deal worth considering 199.us so I'll probably wait on this one :/
GPU well this one is a month away at the very least 1k

Hello, Did IQ`s drop while I was away ? (Ripley`s rant from Aliens) I told everyone you can adjust any fans speed with this MB, but it`s best to connect any fans you use with the Corsair H110i GT to it`s 2 fan headers coming from the pump, that`s the way it`s designed.

I said early on in the thread I started about this pump, that it`s a shame Corsair doesn`t make a PWM fan just like the HPE SP120, in a 140, but they told me that`s basically what the stock fans are. There`s no need for a 140 to go 2350 RPM, and I believe em. 2100 rpm for these stock 140`s is too fast But maybe they should sell a PWM 4 wire LED instead of just the 3 wire. The LED fans are static pressure and can spin at 1440 RPM, but they are 3 wire and not PWM.

Just wrap electrical tape around the 2 connections once you have the 2 fans connected to the pump.

Mike has installed the 3 wire LED fans (not the stock 4 wire PWM fans) and this is a shot of the 2 connectors from the pump and you can see he will have an exposed pin, this is his concern.

Why not put a heat shrink over all of it? They aren't hard to cut away if you ever need to disconnect them and a shrink sleeve won't unravel like tape eventually will (yeah, I know, my OCD is showing).

Mostly because If the fans go out for any reason heat shrink is a pain to remove
Plus I'm not ocd

I have never found it hard to remove.
