I've decided I am going to backup whatever files I need, keep a log of the programs that I use and buy myself a SSD hard drive in the coming days. Will install it and keep you all posted as to what happens next

So I installed the SSD a few days ago, tried to do a data migration but the Samsung migration software failed trying to recognize the SATA HDD. I ended up having to do chkdsk which ran for a good four hours, found some errors, fixed them. Was able to boot into the OS and proceeded to try again with migration and to my surprise the software recognized the volume of SATA HDD and proceeded to copy the information over to the new Samsung 840 Pro SSD.

I shut down the PC, unplugged the SATA HDD, booted into the bios, changed the boot order so the SSD booted first. Restarted the PC and it booted right into the SSD within a good 5-10 seconds. Everything loaded perfectly fine and all my original data was intact.

The PC is working like a charm right now and everything loads really fast and I'm glad. Also the last time the PC froze, an then did the hard shutdown and restart was last Sunday when I had my old Western Digital SATA HDD in here. Since then I haven't had a single freeze and hopefully it was the old HDD that was causing issues.

I have a bunch of programs that are pretty big file size wise that I use. For photo editing I got Adobe Photoshop and Corel Paint Shop Pro X5. Video editing Adobe Premiere. Lastly for my musical creation, I'm a solo musician I have Pro-Tools, Cubase and a few other odds and ends. Tested all of them when right after everything was finished and I did the firmware updates and they load as quick I've ever seen anything load. Usually within a few seconds. Photoshop takes a max of three seconds to load completely compared to a good 9-12 seconds when I had my old drive in there.

What I really notice is the major speed increase in boot up time. It used to take a good 2 solid minutes just for the machine to fully boot into windows and that includes me putting my password in. Now it takes around 20 seconds tops and that includes typing in my password.

If they aren't then its time for a new motherboard which I actually don't mind changing out for a new one.

And it happened again, I was laying down taking a nap when I heard the PC suddenly shut down, stayed off for a good 5 seconds then powered back on. I'm starting to believe I might have a faulty motherboard. I replaced the PSU, replaced the CPU, replaced the RAM, replaced the hard drive, and replaced the GPU

Figured I'd resurrect the thread. The new SSD did nothing to resolve my issues and the shutdowns have gotten even more frequent. I ended up with two hard shutdowns over the past two days. One while I was at work and the other while I was sitting here playing a video game on my 360.

I decided to go ahead and buy a brand new case and motherboard. NZXT Phantom 530 Black ATX Full Tower and ASRock Z77 Extreme4 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard.

Will do an install of them once I get them shipped here from Newegg. I am hoping that this will finnaly fix my problems
