I have just updated a packard bell easynote r4650 from win xp to win 7 with success!
Before doing this I used acronis to format the main c: partition and an unnamed partition which was the original backup for the xp system. Installed Win 7 on master c: primary active system, thats ok. But the ntfs reformated 8Gb part is not showing, in manage it shows no letter assigned, and right clicking options are grayed out. So I used acronis director boot disk to give it drive letter E: but when booting up the partition is not showing its drive letter, and options are still grayed out (the disk is initialised - no option for this). Is there something else to do to show drive letters. I have also changed it from primary to logical but no change. Mike

Solved, using only right click option in manage of delete. Deleted, remake a simple partition and format and assign a drive letter. M

Also what I should have checked something else slightly different in Win 7
Look at Folder Options/View
and you will see
1. Hidden files and folders - dont show hidden, files, folders AND DRIVES.
2. Also, Hide empty drives in Computer Folder.
I usually do all this first. But just in case anyone else has the problem.
