Hi

I have 500 GB Segate SATA hard drive , I divided it to two partitions :

One NTFS partition for windows 7 professional OS

Another NTFS partition (W) is for data storage

I have got another hard disk drive western digital 1 TB for backup

The username that I normally log in to my system is : ramadion and it is member of the “ Administrators ” group please pay attention to the letter s

Today (means before there was no problem) when I tried to access W it says : W is not accessible accessed is denied

When I read the quote below :

http://www.sevenforums.com/installation-setup/64259-e-not-accessible-access-denied-issue.html

This means ur current account is not an admin. Enable the default admin account in 7, logoff and login as the new admin. You will be able to access the drive. Then make ur user account as the owner for tht drive. You will be then able to access the drive when you login as ur account.
I checked the properties of the partition W then “ Security “ tab I have seen only (no other users) :
Administrators ( viewsonic \ Administrators )

viewsonic is name of my desktop

When I added the username : ramadion everything back to normal

My question shouldn’t group name : “ Administrators “be sufficient to access partition W rather than adding the username : ramadion ? Since the username ramadion is part of the “Administrators “ group ???

Thanks

Hello zillah, welcome to Seven Forums!

Using "Administrator" in any fashion for a user account in Windows 7 is a very bad idea as that is a name reserved for Windows' use and will cause untold errors/issues along the way.

Hello Bare Foot Kid

I have not used "Administrator " account to login to the system, I have used an account that is part of "
Administrators" group.

Now are you saying using account that is part of the " Administrators" group is bad idea ?

Maybe it's not clear, is this a user account name; your first post is very confusing (to me) sorry.

Sorry for the confusion the username that normally I login to my windows 7 os is : "ramadion" and I made this username a member of the group "Administrators".

I have not used the windows default "Administrator" account to login to my windows OS.

hopefully this is clear now

Thanks
