Patching Uxtheme's destroyed my explorer.exe

Just installed win7 7600 2 weeks ago and was running fine until i decided to get some new themes.

i had patched my uxthemes just fine on many computers just fine on many xp machines.

but now when i did it and rebooted i got an error saying explorer.exe entry point not found in kernalbase.dll

no instances of explorer.exe run anymore, viewing folders/control/etc is impossible.

I have to run everything from launchy/7zip/bblean.

Please help? Or is reinstalling my only option.

1.if you have win7 recovery disk, you can use it to restore a created restore point.
2.Also with disk you can enter ms dos and cop original explorer.exe to C:\Windows.

I also had a problem with shell32.dll and I used 2.
xcopy shell32.dll C:\Windows\system32 is the command line. You have to use ''xcopy explorer.exe C:\Windows''

Then restart pc.

If you dont have win7 recovery disk there are probably some other programs to enter msdos, but you still need original explorer.exe on hdd or USB.

Just for the record, it is NOT Uxtheme patcher who has destroyed your explorer.exe
And kernalbase.dll is not one of the files either thats being patched with uxtheme patcher.

You must have done something wrong elsewhere, but it was not caused by the patching

These are the 3 files thats being patched with Uxtheme Patcher:
themeservice.dll
themeui.dll
uxtheme.dll

Hmm, what are the exact commands I need to put in?

why would i use xcopy explorer.exe c:\windows?

am i not copying from the dvd drive?

so would it be xcopy explorer.exe g:\windows

then

xpaste c:\windows?

i have already run sfc /scannow and i still get the same



"The procedure entry points RegQueryValueExW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNALBASE.dll"

So how does that copy paste thing from win cd work?

Well if sfc/ scannow didn't fix it you might want to consider a Repair Install, http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html?filter[3]=Installation and Setup

xcopy explorer.exe C:\Windows
copies the file from recovery disk to windows folder which is usually on C:
If you installes windows on D: or other driver use that one instead of C:
You do not need paste, xcopy copies is immediately.

xcopy (file dir from disk) (location to paste) Just try it

sori to interrupt guys...1 of all,check carefully what thing coz u're probs.yesterday,i try 2 change my orb button using restorator.suddenly it's stuck.so kill it by task manager and my explorer.exe start crazy.if i click explorer.exe,it doesn't react and the most crazy thing is if i click any program,it say 'no such interfaced'.i think restorator crashing it,but no.Luckily i create restore point b4 i did this probs.so i use 'boot by command prompt' n run rstrui.exe' n it finally works!so,check 1 b4 u blame a program,coz the creator x make it to coz any probs to some1.:sarc:


p/s i already patching with that Ux too,so far no probs and have great themes....

Here's an idea I have, why not install some version of blackbox, reboot and use that to fix up your system?

EDIT: I just read your post again and you already seem to be using bblean. Doesn't that allow you to browse folders etc?

No, for some reason bblean doesn't let me browse folders.

Still, I guess I'm fine with 7zip.

I'll probably fix it again one day down the road.
