PC crashes when gaming? (Want to try and fix it myself)

Hey Sevenforums.com,

I built myself a budget gaming computer which works fine and fast (for me) I can play any game i.e Crysis 3 and so on with no problems.. Well but one sometimes my PC would just crash and just restart itself no BSOD or nothing just restart?

Normally I would post BSOD - Posting Instructions but I want to try and fix this myself so I myself can get better with PC's and then help others with their problems etc.. Am hoping you could post some/link me programs tutorials etc.. Anything that could help me out? I still want to keep this topic open so if I do run into anything I don't understand I can post here and hoping someone could explain it better and a fix (if there is one)

Hi usernamehere, welcome to 7F!

If you do not have it, you will need to Download and Install Debugging Tools for Windows
It is the first link in H2SO4's http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/26584-configuring-debugging-tools.html

Once you have Debugger tools installed you can then run the tool you saw at http://www.sevenforums.com/bsod-help-support/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html on your machine. It will place a .zip file on your Desktop and when you extract that you will see something similar to this:

Click on the first .dmp file and the Debugger (DBG) will automatically open and start to analyze the information the .dmp file contains. When it stops you can click on !analyze -v
View attachment 258417to gather more information to help analyze the problem.

If you have more than one .dmp just work down the list and DBG will open them in new windows on top of the others.

You can also look through the remaining files to see if anything looks out of place like old drivers in the Drivers List.txt file.

As a last resort you could post your Folder here and we can help interpret the .dmp's with you.

Some places to start your search:

• Be sure all hardware connections are solid.
• Some, not all home-built machines will have conflicts with the GPU, and internet connection when playing games.
• Make sure all your drivers are up to date.
• There is a possibility your anti-virus/malware is part of the problem.
• I can't think of it now, but there can be a driver in Steam that can cause problems.
• This not only my opinion, but you don't even want to consider EA and Origins.

ICit2lol, that's what I forgot to add to my post, posting system specs!

In wanting to help him/herself -User!<3 already knows the system specs, but, will feel the pain, and anguish we do when s/he starts helping other members that don't.

usernamehere, As has already been suggested, could you fill out your system specs. You can easily use the method here http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html or you can go to the bottom left of your last post and click on My System Specs and there will be a link to update system specs. You can look at mine to see what we are looking for. It will go a long way in us being able to help you resolve your problem.

Sorry for not getting back to this topic.
I have been busy and doing a lot of tests, So here is my report...

My PC crashes when I play a game (as we know about this far)
But when I play games on Linux Mint (14/Mate/Steam/TF2) It does not crash once.. When I play games in VMware Workstation "Windows 7 32bit" It does not crash?!
For the past days I have been playing all my games inside of my VMware Workstation Box and can report no errors or crashes.
