Did you recently scan the system for malware?

Malwarebytes is the 1st choice around here for stand alone scanners. They've added a "trail" for their paid product, decline the trial and install the free version.

You can also try the ESET online scanner. It requires IE - you might have to "install it twice". I had to and so did a member I suggested it to.

I would also run chkdsk on the drive.

Run one at a time (choose one mw scanner)
chkdsk will boot and scan before loading windows

Yes, that's the one, it should run on a reboot. You do have two yellow caution signs there, I don't know what they mean, but that may be an indicator of a failing drive.

extract all and you'll see the report in full with icons.
The icons don't show up in your zipped file. You might run the long test and see what it finds.
Thanks, I opened it from the download, I save it then opened and it works.

Well that all looks good - no bugs and chkdsk (image removed from quote) found no issue.

I'm surprised though. I expected it to boot and run before windows.

Would you mind trying chkdsk from the properties of your C:\ drive?
(tools tab-> check disk for errors... click both radio buttons)
thanks, this will run longer due to a deeper scan

and just so I'm certain - the HDD test results are from your C:\ drive - right?

The games crashed after installing them just after you installed the Updates?

Check first if you have the latest Display driver from the Nvidia Support Downloads webpage.

Wait to see if it crashes, if so disable the two Nvidia services in the msconfig>Startup.

Chkdsk is more of a volume check. The way you ran it, from a command prompt and without switches just tells you the file system on that volume is intact. If you had the /r switch appended it'll additionally repair file system errors, check for physical errors (surface), find bad sectors and try to recover data. It won't run to completion, instead it'll prompt you asking if you want it to run at reboot. However you do it, command line or GUI, it's only checking/repairing that volume and not the whole disk.

Apparently Seatools has problems reading SMART status of both your drives (Samsung, now Maxtor), even though Seagate owns both brands, owning Maxtor for the better part of a decade. Kind of makes me wonder about your download of Seatools (although unlikely as the program runs without error). But still...

Also, after experiencing a BSOD while running off of the second drive/install, it's starting to point to problems elsewhere. Your Samsung is in better shape than your Maxtor. Even though the Maxtor has a few reallocated sectors, it appears to have a very high number of CRC errors (over 1200, if I'm reading it correctly). I'm not sure of the significance of such a high number there. Taking that into consideration along with the already reallocated sectors, I'd consider it better used as a temp drive.

@Britton30,
I restarted my pc twice and never got it? I will try again later. (I may forget)

@Slartybart,
Done and here is the log..
And yes I am doing it on the C:\ (Which is my HD)

@gregrocker,
Yep, after all that it still crashed :(
I will do that test later when I get home from college :3
And I will post back later to show you my results.

@F5ing,
Am sure (could be wrong) But that is the same as what Slartybart said?
Yes I to find it odd, I downloaded Seatools dos tool (Windows 7 32-64 bit) Then burned it with Windows burner..
Yes I agree! I found my Samsung HD better then this.. I find this HD slower... BUT it boots faster oO

@F5ing,
Am sure (could be wrong) But that is the same as what Slartybart said?

As far as chkdsk is concerned? No, not quite. My main point was simply that chkdsk really only checks the volume (eg, C: or D:, whatever "drive"/volume you specify) rather than the whole physical disk.

Yes I to find it odd, I downloaded Seatools dos tool (Windows 7 32-64 bit) Then burned it with Windows burner..
Yes I agree! I found my Samsung HD better then this.. I find this HD slower... BUT it boots faster oO

chkdsk log:

The Seatools thing is odd. But regardless, your Samsung SMART data looks much better than your Maxtor. And as you've experienced BSODs on both, well, I think I'd go with the Samsung.

BTW, the chkdsk run on your Maxtor drive appears to have cleared up some index/security descriptor errors but found nothing wrong while doing its surface scan. It's worthwhile to run it one more time to ensure it no longer finds errors.

Could you remind me, what AV is on the system?

Please also run the following in an elevated command prompt
Vssadmin list writers
Vssadmin list providers
and lastly (for the moment anyway)
please post a screen shot of your virtual memory settings (computer properties -> advanced system settings -> advanced tab -> performance setting button -> virtual memory change button

post the screen shot, but don't change the setting, cancel all the way out.

F5ing: I agree that the CRC errors are disconcerting, and understand your explanation of the differences between Seatools and chkdsk. It's not clear to me at the moment that the issue is any drive as both had issues. I might have lost track, but I think the current drive has the fresh install on it and I'd rather deal with the CRC slow down on a fresh Windows than revisit a Windows that might not be "clean".
Your thoughts?

MrUser01: Am i correct, this drive has the fresh Windows install, whereas the other drive does not?

I had to go back and check stuff such as reseating cables - done - and I probably missed some things along the way.

Thanks,

Bill

Ah I see what you mean :) Would you still like me to run a chkdsk /r ?
Yes I agree this HD seems to lack off speed, The Samsung was much better, But am in no rush to swap the HDs over at this time. I will do a re-scan in a bit for you :3

Great, everything looks ok and thank you.

Try setting your virtual memory to a custom size of 8192 and reboot
This will force the paging file to be rewritten on disk and not try to resize it.

Please post another Virtual Memory screenshot after you boot

Thanks - you're doing great.

Hmmm, looking at the SI you provided shows that the Software Protection service (sppsvc) is not running, it is configured to start automatically.

Please download and run MGAdiag
when it is finished, press the copy button (ignore any errors)
post the output in a code box using the # icon on the posting menu
[CODE]

Paste MGAdiag output in a code box
