PC Freezing when USB Audio device is turned off

Hey guys,

I recently started using a Line 6 POD HD Desktop Audio Device to record guitar directly into an audio program. However, it seems that when the device is turned off, windows often completely freezes/becomes unresponsive. This appears to happen 100% of the time when the device is turned off while being used by a program.

So far, I have:
-Reinstalled the latest drivers
-Changed the USB port the device is plugged into
-Used the SFC command to check for corrupted system files (which were found and fixed)
-Unplugged another USB Audio device that could have been conflicting (while this did not solve the freezing, it did seem to increase stability within my audio recording program).
-Turned off USB selective suspend mode

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers

Sorry if this sounds silly, turn it off after done with the audio software and closing it? Or does it turn off by itself?

Sorry for not making that clear. It sometimes crashes when the audio software is closed but seems to crash 100% of the time when the software is on.

Cheers

Also, it doesn't turn off by itself. The crash occurs when i turn it off.

Apologies for any confusion.

You can try:

- Create a manual System Restore point - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html
- Remove USB device from PC, restart
- Run DriveCleanup as admin - Drive Tools for Windows
- restart and scan with CCleaner
- restart and install USB device again

* DriveCleanup will remove drivers for all unattached devices so things like USB drives/flash etc will install again when plugged in.

Other considerations: Is your Windows up-to-date? Is your audio software up-to-date?

The Audio software (Ableton and POD HD Edit) are both up to date, yes.

Windows was up to date but I uninstalled one update (KB3068708) which was being reported as corrupt by the sfc scan (it's worth noting that this uninstall had no effect on the freezing). After looking around on Google, many people said that KB3068708 was a problematic update, so I uninstalled and hid it.

Ill try you're other recommendations when I can.

Thanks again for the reply.

KB3068708 corruption is a fake one, not actually corrupt but reported to be so. No need to be alarmed by that.

Ah right, cheers. Ill get that reinstalled. Ive left the audio device on all of today and had no issues - I think I might just leave it on all the time as a workaround. Ill still give the other suggestions a try though :)

If you uninstalled, no reason to re-install again.
