Hi I have been facing a weird problem since last night.

I recently changed my smps to a Antec Vp 450p as the last one had failed.Last night when I switched On my PC everything was running fine.

After that the desktop became unresponsive. After a few minutes the PC shut down randomly.

I pressed the restart button but the PC was dead.It simply wont start.

I switched off the main and I switched it on and after that I pressed the power button of my PC. the PC did start up and The desktop was seen and it became unresponsive again.

I was shown Bsod with the last Letters being f4.PC then shut down randomly it won't start upon switching off the main and then switching it on It would start only to be shut down again randomly.

In BIOS my os drive has stopped being detected.

I am more concerned about the random PC shutting down incident.

Please help.

Also when the main is on and the PC wont start after switching power switch , the 2 motherboard LEDs would Light up but very dimly.

My configuration is as follows -

Biostar ta 785 G3 HD

Corsair 4 GB DDR 3 ram

Seagate 80 GB HDD (Over 9 years old and my os drive.

Hitachi one TB HDD

Wd green one TB HDD

His Radeon 5570

Antecedents VP 450p

TIA

It sounds (from what you've described) like you have a power supply problem.

The first thing I would do is to open the case and check every single power supply connector and make sure that they are properly plugged in and secure.

The second thing I would do is to find/beg/borrow/steal another power supply and try it in your PC to rule out the power supply.

Try these things and report back.

Sorry for the extremely late reply.

As per my job requirements I have to live approximately 200 kilometers away from home on Sunday was the last day of my leave.

Even I wondered whether it's due to some SMPS problem.

But because I have just fitted in a new smps and it's an Antec I thought otherwise.

Half an hour ago when I switched on the PC again after 6 days or so

It did start up there was a disk check and then i went into the windows.

Everything was normal and

There was no lag of any kind and then only after 10 or 15 minutes of on time the system suddenly shutdown.

Even when the main switch is on,pressing

either the reset or the start button wont start the cpu.

Will have to work very hard in order to procure another SMPS any idea if this is something else?

Perhaps an electrical fault on the motherboard? Does it come alive if you remove power for a minute or two?

Did you try loading defaults in BIOS/clear CMOS?

Also, try removing the front panel connector and try short starting the PC (use a screwdriver to short the power switch pins).

OK so here's the thing.

I reset the BIOS using the jumper thing.

After that the PC won't show any display.

I googled and then finally changed the display input from my videocard to my motherboard socket.

Still there is no display.

Apple pressing the power button for very long the PC would stop

And only after releasing it it would start again.

There is light in mouse but not in keyboard while both have USB connectors

Please help

Do you have any display at all? Can you get to BIOS? Clearing CMOS shouldn't render the PC unusable, it only defaults/clears the settings to factory defaults.
