Personal folders - move to another partition or drive

Hi all - new to Windows 7 and the forum but had been setup on the Vista forum. Thought I would be able to use the same login but had to register again. Oh well.

I'd like to ask for some advice. I would imagine most users of this forum keep their docs, music, pictures, video on a separate drive or partition from the op system. I have a nice new 1TB D drive for this purpose. What is the cleanest, easiest way to do this? What do you do? Do I actually each folder or move the user folder or just add new folders and attach them to the libraries?

Thanks much.

Go ahead and do it however you think will be the most organized. If you want all the folders on the root directory, that is fine, or you can put them in your customized structure.

You will need to include the folders in the Libraries, though, as they will not get automatically added.

Hope this helps,
~JK

My goal is really just to have all of this on another drive so that I can reinstall windows easily without need to backup my music, pics etc and also to not take up space on my C drive. How do you do it? Do you move the entire user or just create new folders?

so I read the tutorial on moving on changing the user folders default location. It seems to assume I would be moving the individual user folders (My Music, My Documents etc) not the entire user folder. Which are you recommending and would these instructions move the entire folder? If the entire folder - would I move the Users Folder (which includes my personal folder and a public folder) or just my folder and would that move carry all of the user folders within it along with it? Sorry if I am being dense about this ... I just want to get it right.

Please disregard last. I reread the tutorial and this is exactly what I would like to do. I am all set. Thanks much.
