Hey all, I am new to these forums but have been referring to them for tips for a few months now. I am a dedicated gamer and have decided to make a custom copy of Windows 7 Home Premium just for gaming...I have decided to title it "maxFPS Edition".

This thread however isn't about the content of my operating system...that I have taken care of fine...I just need help customizing the actual windows setup.

I have been using numerous resource editors/hackers to edit the strings in DLL's to make certain elements "personal" to my operating system. For example when loading the files instead of saying "Setup is starting...", I intend for it to say "Preparing your system for the most ultimate gaming experience". There are many such examples that I want to customize to my liking.

I have been going through the DLL's and EXE's and finding certain strings that I want changed. For example to change the "Setup is starting..." text, you have to edit the setup.exe.mui contained inside boot.wim.

I want help developing this...ideas thrown around as how to edit certain parts of setup properly...etc.

In the end, I will give proper credits to those who help me most because I plan to distribute this gaming OS when I am finished with it.

First of all, distributing Windows 7 without Microsoft's permission is illegal. Second of all, this should help make you make a lite version of Windows 7:Welcome to RT Se7en Lite - Slipstream Service Pack,Integrate Updates,Integrate Drivers,Integrate LP,Remove Components,Enable or Disable features,Unattended Setup,Apply Tweaks,Add Icons,Wallpapers,Themes,Bootable USB or DVD

Yes, of course. Only interested in tweaking my own copy. Your idea was a bit different, so I was interested if your project got far. Thx.
