HI,

I'm having a problem with my pioneer dvr-s19lbk with windows 7 ultimate 32bit.
The drive shows up fine in my bios, but windows 7 has a problem with it. In my computer it shows up as dvd-rw, but in device manager it shows as a cd-rom. When i put a disk in the drive the autoplay comes up as normal, but when insert a blank disk nothing happens, no autoplay. For some reason its not seeing any blank media and i am unable to burn any disks, even though nero shows the drive with its full model number and firmware version.
However many times i try to update the driver i just get the same message : (Windows had deternimed the driver software for your device is up to date).

I have searched online and have found the latest firmware from pioneer, but as my drive is the latest model it already has this version and there does not seem to be any driver for this device even though it says on the box that its compatible with Windows 7 and i don't understand why its not working.

Any ideas will be most welcome

Thanks

Andy.

Hi James,

I have swapped my sata ports and cables around and my asus controller drivers are installed, but it didn't fix the problem.

Any ideas?

Since you haven't mentioned it, have you tried p5bdkw's link?

If that provides no solution, I think my next move would be to try the drive in a different machine to verify that it is fully operable. You could also try a different DVD burner in the 'problem' machine to see if the same issue occurs.

James

Hi James,

I tried p5bdkw's link to the mats run dvd program, but it said that the lts.dll file was missing and would not run, although i did try the program last week and it ran fine then but reported that it did not fix the problem. I'm not sure why the lts.dll is missing now though, it must have been there before.

Sadly i don't have another machine to try the drive in, but it is a brand new drive purchased only last week from amazon.

Also i purchased the dvr-s19lbk to replace my pioneer dvr-215dbk.
I have two hdd in my pc and the second drive has fully bootable version of xp pro installed and in xp pro both drives work fine, so i know the new drive is not faulty.

so now i don't know what else i can do to get the drive working.

Do you think if i was to format my hdd and start again with a fresh install of windows 7 it would make any difference?

This would not be that bad thing for me as i've only had windows 7 installed since april and i haven't put that many programs on yet, so i don't mind installing it again if it fixes the problem.

what do think i should do James?

Thanks

Andy.

Hi James

So sorry that i haven't been on the forums for a bit, (I've just returned from my holiday.).

At the end of this month i am going to upgrade the dinosaur of a computer that i have to something much faster and far superior.

I would like to thank you very much for all your help on trying to slove this problem for me.

Hopefully i won't have any issues with the new machine, if i do i'll let you know.

Thanks again.

Andy.
