playing skyrim:picking up an oar

hey i have got a small problem, i am doing the bard's quest " finn's lute", and i'm supposed to go in this boat with an oar and row across a small pond, but i can't seem to pick up the oar, i've tried pressing E which activates objects , and nothing else works. please help, thank you

There is no physical rowing in Skyrim so you don't need to pick up an oar or anything else. And I don't specifically remember all in that quest, but if you are supposed to get in a boat, you just enter it, and it'll take you to the spot.

hey i've got a question, i just completed the bards "finn's lute" quest. and i got the "finn's lute", so i go back to the bard's college in solitude to give it to inge six fingers, so she thanks me, and takes the lute, and she gives me certain skills that made me attain 9th level. but the lute is still in my inventory. what should i do? And also even though the quest is complete it not shown as listed among all the other quests. and the cave is showed as a cleared on the map. thanks for help

Well there are some bugs in the game but as you noted the character noted you completed the task and gave you a gift so...

As for getting rid of the lute. I linked to two wiki's look through them, especially the first one; look up that quest. Under it, you'll notice a list of bugs and how to deal with them, including getting rid of items no longer needed. Just follow the instructions for getting rid of them.

You can also check out my thread on other issues that may or may not appear in the game as you go along. However most of it was before the latest patch so it may not apply any longer. There's also a wealth of other information there as well.

To answer this last question, yes you can progress.
