hi
im new to these forums and i searched but cant find exactly what i need..so here it is....

my lap top (toshiba running windows 7 32 bit) is only 1 year old and it has been acting insane as of late. i have lost all my music/pix/docs. everything.. that was mainly my fault for now backing it up but anyways.

right now it seems to be working normal except for ONE PROBLEM, i cant create new folders. i have searched and found some people with the same problem but they dont have the option there. i have the option..i click it..and it says this.......

"uan unexpected error is keeping your from creating the folder. if you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem.
erroe 0x800700003: the system can not find the path specified:

im not sure if i get this everywhere. i mean its weird i can creat a new folder on the desktop but if i go in to the music folder and try then i get the above message.

i am not super computer savvy so if anyone knows what my problem is and can help me i will most likly need a very detailed fix.

thanks in advance for the help guys..this is annoying.

Here is a couple of ideas to start with:

Go to your programs menu and look for "accessories". Inside that, look for "command prompt". Right click command prompt and choose run as administrator.

In the black window that opens up type "sfc /scannow" without the quotation marks and hit the enter key.

Let it run to completion, it might take a few minutes.

If it finds any errors, it will try to fix them. If it finds any errors, enter the same command a second time or a third time, until it no longer finds more errors.

If that does not help, I'd run a checkdisk on the hard drive.

How did you happen to lose your files?? Just accidentally delete them? I'm wondering if your hard drive is OK.

Disk Check

We could have helped you rescue your files and even repair the OS before you Factory Recovered.

Sounds like you might be struggling against a factory preinstall corrupted by bloatware and useless factory utilities which have better versions built into Win7.

Have you considered a clean reinstall: Reinstalling Windows ?

this is really freaking insane... i just got done doing the long ass checkdisk and it did NOTHING..well im sure it must of done somthing but not to help solve my problem :(... so now what?

Hello Brickcitypimp, and welcome to Seven Forums.

As a test, download and merge the Folder option listed in the tutorial below to see if that may help allow you to create a New Folder afterwards. It restores the default associations for folders.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html

Hope this helps,
Shawn

thanks
i just downloaded and merged just about if not all of those..and still nothing...im gonna cry..haha

funny thing is.. i can create new folders on the deskttop and i can even create new folders in pictures...but not in music or documents...haha what gives?!?!?!?!?!

Did you restart the computer afterwards?

Is it only these two locations below that you cannot create new folders in?

If this is from within your C:\Users\(user-name)\My Music and C:\Users\(user-name)\My Documents folders, then also try using OPTION TWO in the tutorial below to restore their default locations to see if that may help afterwards.

If your Music was in the Music user folder then it should appear when clicking on the Start folder. You'd only add other folders from your computer or the network to that library if you wanted them there.

Try typing some titles in the Start Search box to see if it can find your music or any other missing files/folders. If results appear then rightclick and choose Open File Location to see where they are now located.

For your Music library, you could use the tutorial below to include the two default folders below. :)

Hi,

This sounds like it could be a malware infection - what was the name of the program you were downloading? What antivirus software was installed at the time?

Perhaps we can help you get setup with some security software once your PC is back in a decent working order.

Regards,
Golden

ok.. i click start and go to music...i have 1 folder in there that i made.. its called new..it is empty as i have no music at all on my pc. ok so i right click and want to make a new folder, it makes a new one.. it just wont show up. then on the left panel i double click music and it expands to 2 diffrent folder or sections or w.e. u call them.

one is my music and one is public music. why is it that when i create a new folder in music it wont show up there but i click on my music and its in there? THEN i click back on music and its in there aswell..HAHA

i swear i never had any problem with the music folder like i am now.. its insane.
