Premiere Elements 7 on Win 7 x64?

Like the title says: Has anyone tried Premiere Elements 7 on Win 7 x64?

Googling around seems to indicate at least a few successful installations and proper functioning, but before I download 3.2 Gigs worth of Adobe bits (Hey Adobe, could you make that app a little bit bigger, I still have some room left on the hard drive!) I thought I'd ask folks here for their experiences.

I took a chance and downloaded it, and here are the results:

It installed without any problems and loads previously existing project files (from PE 4.0). I can edit the videos and burn a video to a folder but....

PE 7.0 doesn't recognize my DVD burner, but PE 4.0 in XP sees it (same PC).

I re-installed PE 7.0 under XP and the DVD drive is recognized just fine.

Googling shows this problem was not uncommon with earlier version of PE under Vista and seems to involve other disc burning apps taking control of the DVD drive at boot-up making it unavailable to PE. Aside from Win 7's native disc burning ability Itunes is the only application that might be doing that now.

There are some fixes but they involve registry editing and even then might only be temporary.

I might try a clean install of Win 7 and then install PE 7.0 as the first app and see if that works...

Well, the registry edits didn't work, so I did a fresh install of Win 7 X64 and the first app I installed was Premiere Elements 7...

DVD burner STILL not recognized

Since the burner IS recognized by PE 7 in XP there must be some incompatibility between Win 7 and PE 7 (on my hardware anyway). If I wasn't so lazy I'd try it in Win 7 32bit

I'll just use it in XP for now, maybe MS or Adobe will patch something by the time Win 7goes RTM?

win 7 64-bit and Premier Elements 7



Premier Elements 7 was easely installed. Then the problems began. For editing my HD movies (.mp4) I had to restart my computer many times. I got a message saying: Very low on memory, save and continue with caution. I have a fast PC (8 GB DDR3 RAM, CPU Intel i5-750 quadro, SSD disk. Of course my Premier Elements were running in 32-bit, only able to use about 3 GB RAM. I wasn't able to burn the DVD, so finally I reinstalled my win XP on another HD, now using dual boot. In win XP I have no problems in finalizing my 40' movie in HD.
Do anybody know if Adobe is working on a 64-bit Premier Elements which can be used in win 7??
