Want to do the pre-order today but i have a specific question for you guys regarding the different versions. I will need to connect to my office through a VPN and remote desktop connection, which i'm doing now when i decide to work from home, via Vista Ultimate. NOW, for Vista, the version descriptions said that you had to have Enterprise or Ultimate to connect to a VPN, but i have a laptop with Vista H.Premium that does the job the same as the Ultimate version on desktop.

SO, in 7, i see the same thing in the version descriptions: if you want to connect to a VPN, get the Professional version at least. BUT, can you not do the VPN connection with the premium version of 7? Can anyone confirm that for me please??

Thanks Sammy, that's a pretty expansive comparison table. So basically as long as i don't want to use the built in Windows remote desktop as the host, i'm fine. I can always use the free Teamviewer for that.....

Thanks!

Thanks Sammy, you helps me out looks like there are some other items MS doesn't state on their front site about the differences.
For the price of Ultimate I would need to do the work I do looks like Im going to buy a TechNet account and save myself money in the long run.

VPN connections TO a destination work fine in vista home premium, so it should also work in windows 7 home premium. You can even have people vpn into your pc. The main difference is people connecting TO your pc via rdp, or your pc joining a domain, in which case you need professional.
