Preparing to configure windows (stuck)

After an update on the 12/12/13 once it was installed and restarted the computer stays stuck on ''Preparing to configure windows'' Only safe mode was working so I done a clean boot as recommended from a post I found online. I'm back on my laptop but cannot update again or I'll be back to ''preparing to configure..''.

I've been searching around online for a while now and can't find anything helpful, the only thing I can think of is uninstalling all updates from this month that are in the control panel and try reinstall them again but I not sure will this cause more problems as I've not done it before. Also I've tried system restore without any luck.

I had the same issue, and left it running for an hour or so.
The FIX: Hit Ctrl + Alt + Delete as you normally would and you should be able to log on- problem solved.
