Printing from Windows to Macintosh

I use my Macintosh computer as a print server at home. It is a HP 4200 all in one printer. When I print certain things from Word, Excel or MS Paint, the document does not print out on the printer. I have the correct drivers installed on both machines and I was able to make the network connection to the printer as well.

So is there anything that I need to download or is it a setting? Do I need to the same programs installed on both machines in order to print successfully?

No, this problem seams rather odd.

If you didn't already know printers can normally only accept one file format as a medium to print by (PDF or something else).

Every printer driver as well as the program trying to print convert and change the specified items to print into the correct format. It doesn't matter what programs are installed on the Mac as long as the printer driver is there.

Are there any programs that it will print from on Windows.

I would also recommend if the printer driver for Seven was installed from Windows Update (automatically when it found the Printer) and not from the driver CD or the manufacturers website that you do install it from the driver CD or manufacturers website.

I would also like to know the network connection type you are using (ethernet, WiFi etc.) as well as the model of Mac (including approximate date of first sale eg Late 2008).

The model of Mac is a gray g4 Macintosh tower. I'm using a wifi connection for network connectivity.
