Hi folks,

I know this sounds odd. At the moment I'm customizing my imageres and shell32 dll files. OK using Restorator 2007 I extract the icons of each .dll into separate folders on the desktop in .ico format. I have done this before and made a perfect printout of the icons of each folder but I'll be damned if I can remember how I did it. I have searched the internet only to come up short handed and have done everything and used every program I have to make this happen to no avail. The reason for the printout is for easy reference to the icons for recognition and naming correctly. If anyone knows of any solution to my problem I would really appreciate the help. Thank you and have a good one..

Hello Seth500. I am not sure that it will solve your problem or not, but that is a good method to do.

Ther's the last free version of IcoFX, download and install it. IcoFX.zip . it will do a nice ready reference . Click on tools > Resource Editor
1.jpg

The resource editor window will appear. Click on the open button
2.jpg

in the open resource dialog, browse to imageres.dll and open it
3.jpg

.... and all the icons are there, with perfect numbering .

Now, For reverting things back to default, the best way is to save copies of the original files before the modification is done. When needed, just replace those.

Thank you Arc that is exactly what I was looking for. I have a number of programs for opening and extracting the icons but like like you eluded too they aren't always numbered correctly which can be a little frustrating. Anyway thanks again I owe you one. Regards Seth
