Hi.
Just today on starting my Win 7 64 Pro that a small screen flashed quickly on and off and kept appearing, the warning was "Autoplay System Reserved (G: )everything was fine at shutdown the night before. G: drive is a flash drive and only connected when needed.

I checked error logs and could only find two errors around the startup time, TfFsMon and TfFvsMon whether these are relevant or not I have no idea!

I rebooted with the same problem. I then unticked 'Use Autoplay for all media devices' in Control Panel~Autoplay. Rebooted and all seems fine again.

I then tried a System Restore of a few days ago and this failed possibly due to my AV running, I turned the AV off until a 'Restart' and again tried a System Restore, same failure with unspecified error (0x80070005).

If I turn on Autoplay the problem re-appears, my PC slows and generally is not happy, turn off Autoplay and its fine.

Any suggestions as to what the problem is and how to fix it?

Many thanks

Alan.

System Reserved G and other autoplay errors

I am having this same issue! It only started recently (within the past month).

I first noticed it when I came back to my computer after having been away for a day or two and there were literally HUNDREDS of pop up windows open for the Autoplay option. They had a message about "System Drive F" trying to open itself.

I closed them all, but for the next hour or so they continued to flicker on and off my screen as the system continued to try and autoplay something (I unplugged all peripherals, which didn't help at all)

Most recently I started noticing the Autoplay windows/error directly after I plugged my iPod into my system. I had ejected the device to leave, and noticed the windows start to pop up again. This time they had the same message as yours: "System Reserved G:" with an option to open the folder and view files.

I have no clue why my system is doing this but was happy to see someone else having the exact same problem.

Have you checked for malware or a virus? I suggest doing both.

Thanks for the suggestion Sir George. Bitdefender TS 2012 reports all ok.
Found the cause of the problem, it is caused by TomTom Sat Nav. I had a problem with a new map and called TT to sort it out using the PC USB and HOME program, after this the problem (g: ) arrived. The SD card is G: and the internal memory L: with the card in the USB the problem goes away. I was getting both G: and L: errors.
TT reckon that deleting all the files on the TT unit and reinstalling will correct the problem, I will use their instructions later and see if they work, or not, and report back afterwards.

Well that didn't work:(.

There is still something associated with the TomTom that is causing the problem, I just wish I could fathom it out:mad:

I checked Computer Management-Disk Management, on the 'System Reserved' partition there was a regular flashing (G: ).

Windows Explorer shows my HD (F: ) and HD (H: ) then 'System Reserved (G: )' jumps in between the F and H then disappears again!

HELP!

Concur about TomTom

Glad I found this today. I started having the trouble with the system partition popups.

After finding this I just closed the TomTom app in the task bar and they stopped.

Going to investigate a more permanent solution later.

That's interesting (Apologies to Steve Davis) I have now removed the TT Home application from my Task Bar (Show hidden icons in Windows 7 64bit)and put a shortcut on my desktop. I have re-enabled Auto Play and touch wood and so far all seems fine

.

Had you updated your Tom Tom application just before the problem appeared Madmaxed? If you had this could be the cause as my problems started on the next reboot.

No I hadn't updated my TomTom. I did let the application update last night after finding that the TomTom application was causing the problem. After installing the update to the software, and rebooting the problem persisted.

My solution is to simply remove the TomTom application for now. I only used to to get the latest maps on my unit. Haven't been using it for anything else so I'm not missing anything.

TomTom! I also had the TomTom application running in my taskbar. I hadn't used my GPS in a while but did plug it in and update the TomTom app not long before these weird windows started.

I'll look into having it not run constantly in the background, hopefully it will help my issue as well.

Well, my PC has been running fine for many hours, I placed cd in the drive and Auto Play launched Media Player as usual. The problem returned after I removed the CD, only this time with far more force. The same message as before but a new error message as well; a 'Searching for Content' screen box appeared.
The only course of action for me was to shut down, restart and again turn off Auto Play as quickly as I could.
PC now behaving again.

So,The Larch and madmaxed try running a cd or other device that uses Auto Play and see what happens.....:(

99% sure I have found the cause of the problem, (famous last words!) As I had put a new map on my TomTom 4gb SDHC card it was showing as being nearly full so I bought an 8gb SDHC card and copied my 4gb card files to it, switched on and all seemed okay. Some time later I connected the unit to the PC in order to update it and needed to download and install a new 'application'. This I did and thought no more about it.

This was the day before my tale of woe began.

I've hard reset the TT, downloaded the units application again, even formatted the internal drive, defragged it then copied the original files back to it without the map as required by TT if I was using a separate memory card. Replaced the then 8gb card and got the same problems.

Apparently you can use a MICRO 8gb SDHC with adapter in the TT GO730 but not a normal 8gb SDHC card. Why not is a mystery but I replaced the 4gb card back in the TT and reset the software, after a short delay - when I thought I had really screwed it up - the TT came back to life, the startup photo returned so did the TT drum roll and logo.

I have re-enabled Autoplay and so far not a single flashed warning has been seen.

So if you have similar problems and are using a larger than 4gb SDHC card then try a smaller card!!!

I registered and now am posting to say that I have had this same problem for a few months. I was able to stop the popups by putting my computer to sleep and turning it back on, but it was not an elegant solution!

I also have TomTom Home installed, so it seems clear to me that it is the culprit. I went into msconfig and stopped it from starting when Windows starts. Hopefully that will be the end of it (at least until i connect my TomTom!).

I don't have any SD card loaded into my TomTom (XXL 540 TM), nor do i even see an SD card slot on my device, though i've glued a bunch of velcro onto mine for mounting in my car, so perhaps i put the velcro strips over the slot, assuming i have one.

Yes it's the TomTom.
I uninstalled TomTom and the problem is gone.
Hope this helps...

I can also verify that it is the Tom Tom software causing this problem. I uninstalled the Tom Tom software and those pesky System Reserved windows stopped popping up. I literally had 141 windows open at once

G'Day

Just been Googling this issue and can confirm the culprit was the Tom Tom software. Absolute pain!
You'd think they would have updated the software by now so this doesn't occur! Considering this post originated in 2012!

Cheers
